Heat vs. Spurs Game 7 drew 26.3 MILLION viewers, a 15.3 TV rating, and is officially the most-viewed NBA Finals program since 1988.

It was a good series. The spurs blew their chance in game 6

That is good, first 3 games drew pretty bad ratings. This series going 7 was huge for NBA

LBJ is a bigger draw than Michael Jordan. Not that surprising.

the Cards/Rangers WS game 7 was something like a 14 rating.

Weird how both game sevens were close in ratings, but some posters claim one of them is a dying sport.

First 3 games drew 8.8, 8.5, and 8.5
Last year MLB ratings sucked but 2011 first 3 games drew 6.6 8.9, and 8.7 and 2010 6.7, 8.9, and 8.5 a lot depends on match ups and the series going longer is always a great thing really for any sport

These ratings are skewed because I watched 1988 Game 7 40 million times.

Last year ratings weren't great and you're right, it does depend on match ups.

This board has been telling me that baseball has been dying for years though. So I just thought it was interesting that both leagues most recent game sevens, with good to decent markets, were pretty close in ratings.

Crazy that a league with superstars like LeBron in a deciding game would only do that much better against a dying sport.

Late 80's didn't basketball continually draw 18+ lol
Outside of football other sports seem to struggle, football is obviously the king and no one ever matches up with it....

During NBA finals you have NHL finals and baseball games
During WS you have college/NFL games (since they have a game every day of week now it seems)

Does the NFL actually compete with anything during the playoffs/Superbowl?

Baseball and Basketball will fight for 2/3 sport but I think next 10-15 years soccer will be up competing with both.

only once. and it was in the 90s (1998)

85: 13.7
86: 14.1
87: 15.9
88: 15.4
89: 15.1
90: 12.3
91: 15.8
92: 14.2
93: 17.9
94: 12.4
95: 13.9
96: 16.7
97: 16.8
98: 18.7
99: 11.3
00: 11.6
01: 12.1
02: 10.2
03: 6.5
04: 11.5

then the NBA didn't reach double figures again until

10: 10.6

So basically people love to love or love to hate the Lakers, Jordan, and Lebron.
