Is 4x4 a must have? How many people actually use your 4x4? Im in the market. I dont play on mud riding. Strictly for deer lease.

Mine is all time 4x4.

If you are just using it as a utility type vehicle for hunting get a selectable 4WD model. You will want to be able to shift into 2WD for greater maneuverability.

4x4 for sure. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
ETA.....selectable 4wd is where it's at.

well, kinda depends on where your lease is and what makes up your lease, huh?
if sandy and on high ground, maybe not?
if hardwood with bottoms or gumbo, maybe so?
imo,, i wouldnt have one without at least a 4x4 switch.
Trigger, my Lil Raskal is 4x4 with a 1/4th" lift kit, i cant afford to get stuck

I hunted for a good while on a 2x4 bike.
Doable but I was covered in mud all the time.

How much do you mind being stuck? You'll most likely get in a few binds with a 2WD and wish you had the 4WD.
Is that worth the extra $1500-2000 or whatever it is?

I have a 2x4. Bout to sell it to buy a 4x4

I would get a 4x4 if it is in your budget.
Honda 420 4x4 selectable is the way to go IMO.

Just my two cents.
4x4 or 2x4 shouldn't be a question for an ATV. Full size truck, yes.
Utility bikes are used and abused. I personally would feel i was cutting myself short by not getting a 4x4. God forbid you get stuck in the middle of the woods because you didn't have 4x4.

Never heard of anyone regretting they went for the 4WD; yea selectable is a must.

Big Reds were/are awesome, the only drawback is in areas where 4wheelers leave ruts in the ground the front wheel of the 3wheeler ALWAYS finds one of those side ruts

4x4 four wheelers aren't much fun. Go with the 2wd model and yoyou'll still get anywhere you need to go.

This thread is screwing up any joxying I might do in the future. I've had 2wd and 4wd bikes. My Honda Recon that I started out on went anywhere the 4wd bikes went, but it's better to have the 4wd. Not nearly as much rocking involved with getting unstuck.

quote:maybe so, if you're riding with a buddy that has a 4x4 to pull you,,, or you simply don't mind getting down in the mud and lifting, pushing, falling, repeating all that stuff a hunnert times and lookin' like a hog thats been wallerin' in a skidder rut when u get back to camp..
