Where does the Spurs game 6 meltdown rank in all-time chokejobs?

It has gotta be #1 all-time chokejob in all sports, right?

I know it won't get the publicity as others have, but it's a much bigger deal than Bartman, Buckner, etc

20 secs to go, up 5, they are wheeling out the Larry O'Brien trophy and Stern is making his way towards the court. Spurs win that scenario 97 out of 100 times, and they fricked it up the worst way possible.

I thought they had it. Yet, once again the fat lady may warm up, but until she actually sings......

It kind of balances out. They got lucky when Sheed didn't close out on Big Shot Bob and that basically became a determining factor of what happened in '05, though that did go 7 games.

Isiah throwing the ball to Larry Bird was bad, but that was in an ECF. C-Webb's melt is overrated since there was no guarantee Michigan would win even without the frickup. Sactown against the Lakers was ugly, but that took a whole quarter I think.

Not even close

I'd say the Oiler's playoff loss to the Bills would dwarf this one in choke magnitude.

yeah, this too

Even though coming back 0-3 had never been done before, the Spurs were much closer to winning the championship than the Yanks were. 20 seconds, just don't frick up.....

I am not sure it was a choke at all.

A 63% free throw shooter makes 1/2. Expected.

The Heat get two offensive rebounds on 3's. That is not unexpected either as long shots are the most difficult to block out on. Even if Duncan is in the game, good chance the ball doesn't come right to him off the miss.

Not sure I see where the Spurs really "choked".

I'd say Iron Bowl 2010 was a pretty marvelous choke job as well.

Man that was a bad series at times. Two great defensive teams, but it seemed like most of the games were blowouts. I loved watching that Detroit team play, even though they embarrassed L.A. in the 04 Finals.

I'm with Tiger on this one. To me a chokejob is where they do something stupid to lose. To me, the Heat just made plays at the end.

Choke job or did Auburn make the plays?

I don't think LSU choked against Bama last year...I think Bama made the play at the end.

you're right, up 5 with 20secs isn't choking

all you have to do is foul, and you win

or

Hit a FT, and you win

or

Grab a rebound, and you win

Spurs choked horribly to give that game & the championship away. Only thing that remotely compares is the yankees blowing the 3-0 lead.....unless someone else can nominate something bigger w/ more importance.
