I knew y'all would love this article.

But I do think JK would be smart to talk with Jones and Bradley individually from time-to-time about their thoughts on how the partnership works to improve the partnership.

A better question might be whether playing JJ outside right with Zusi moving left (and having them flip-flop) while Cameron plays in the middle is the best lineup option right now. Especially without Donovan and if keeping Fabian Johnson at LB is the best option at that spot. Also, Bradley played well at outside right with Chievo in the same formation the US prefers at the moment.

re: Cameron or Jones -- should Michael Bradley decide?

[quote]• Jermaine Jones needs to understand his role better. Jones is a Klinsmann favorite, but Michael Bradley is the central midfielder the U.S. needs to build around, not Jones. The German-American spent too much of the game not allowing Bradley to be Bradley. What do I mean by that? Too often Bradley has to read what Jones is doing and base his movements and actions off that. It should more often be the other way around, with Jones deferring to Bradley. Geoff Cameron seemed to understand that better in last week's win against Panama, sometimes dropping deep and consistently playing off what Bradley was doing. What's more, because Jones so readily draws yellow cards, as he did Tuesday, he becomes a game-long risk of being sent off for a second. (Honduras was clearly trying to bait him into one.) Cameron only played one and one half games next to Bradley in the central midfield, but he was an upgrade on Jones during that time. Read More: LINK ]

Sounds like this board is the place stuck on a bad idea.

I don't think anyone is definitively saying that Jones and Bradley should be the choice. (Though Cameron has had an impressive 150 minute or so spell.)

What people are thinking are terrible ideas are things like moving Jones out wide or asking Michael Bradley to decide.

And to go on record, I think Cameron's role from the Jamaica and Honduras game is the best solution for now.

Bring size, energy and solid defense in for either Jones or Bradley at th 60' mark depending on cards, fitness, etc.

It's not going to happen, but I'd kill to see Kljestan, Cameron and Holden as our top 3 CMs in the Gold Cup.

Cameron looked good against freaking Panama. PANAMA. Let's not start stroking his cock just yet and say that he should replace Jones.

It's not about whether Cameron is a better player than Jones, It's about who gives us a better pairing in the center. From the game and a half I've seen it's Geoff Cameron. He at least warrants the competition.

I know a coach should make these decisions, but bradley may honestly be more tactically savvy than Jurgen. I mean we know tactics aren't jurgen's strong suit. He shouldn't "decide" per se, but his input should be considered.

Jones has arguably been one of best (certainly the most improved) US players in the last 6 months on our team. I believe he and Bradley make a better tandem regardless of what Wahl sees.

Bradley should not decide, and it should be Jermaine Jones.

I wonder if he wants to coach when he's done playing? If he does, then he can decide who plays CDM.

Disagree completely, especially if we're following the "no player is irreplaceable" model (i.e. the ex-communication of Landon Donovan). If you allow one player to dictate tactics, you've got a recipe for disaster. Only in the instance where one player is MILES ahead of the rest of the team (think: Shalrie Joseph & Grenada), and even then it's probably foolish.

And, even as tactically inept as I believe Jurgen to be, I'd trust his judgement more than a 25 year old's.

The coach dictates what the players are to do, and you can fall in line or move on. It really isn't going to work. Do you think Jose Mourinho asked Cristiano who else should be on the field with him?
