The best set of laws I have seen enacted yet. All common sense, but common sense isn't common. I don't think you have to be partisan to agree to this stuff.

It worked fine when I previewed it

Actually this happened yesterday, I did a search of Jindal and this didn't pop up, I'm surprised.

Is this the shooter voter law?

Meh, typical politician sleight of hand. Cut LSU by hundreds of millions, sign some meaningless gun legislation. Which one actually helps the State's economy?. This is how they get you to think they are actually doing something for you.

This.
Minimal is dismantling LSU brick by brick and he wants you to forget he just cut millions of dollars out of their funding so he signs these pretty much hollow gun bills.

I read these Acts and they aren't that great. The one that struck me the most was the Act requiring Clerks of Court to gather disqualifying information and report it to the Louisiana Supreme Court, so that more names can be added to the no-buy list. Jindal shouldn't be calling press conferences over that one, unless he is switching to the Democratic Party.

I don't see the problem with this at all.

As for Jindal, I will admit that I haven't followed the university funding story as it related to LSU but there have been cuts to the universities in NELA as well. Also, at least he can seem to find his way up here unlike any other governor in recent memory.

The cuts go all around. $200 million to all universities this year, $500 since he got elected in 2008. LINK

Of course, he stacks the College boards with his flacks, so you hear not a peep from them. If they complain, they get removed.

First of all, let me say I'm not very smart. However, I see this country spending Billions of dollars every year (more every year) on education and it keeps getting worse. What makes you think that spending more money will help?

interesting set of laws.

I can agree with the basis of protecting CC holder information but why is there a difference in penalties for citizen vs law enforcement? If anything the trained officials being paid by the public should be more aware an thus face stiffer penalties for similar actions.

The mental health thing is really a new law to force the exchange information that should already be exchanged and is thankfully limited to the mental illnesses that already restricts gun ownership by LA law.

Allowing off duty officers to carry on school campus is a good thing.

Not sure why there is need to recognize concealed carry permits parish to parish as any LA cc permit is recognized state wide and in other states with reciprocity as far as I know.

The voter registration thing is not as impressive as it seems as it is simply handing out a form and it is limited to those employers that have 25 or more employees basically limiting all small to medium size gun shops, pawn shops, and even possibly places like Academy from doing this.

They're not spending more, they are cutting existing funds drastically. Education provides us with smarter, better citizens, and allows businesses to have better employees. It also entices business to locate here.

there have been lots of misguided attempts to fix deficiencies in education with money. Without looking it up to confirm details, I remember that there was a HS in the Midwest that allocated a 20-30K per student above every other HS in the state. Surprisingly the students in that school that had been doing well did better and the ones that were doing poorly continued to do so. There are many similar examples. Certainly there is a minimum operating expenditure for each institution, but there is clearly not a linear relationship between education funding and student performance.

I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will come correct me if that is the case but it is my understanding that a sheriff can issue a concealed carry permit that is valid for his parish. This would make the permit valid all across the state but wouldn't be reciprocal to other states because its not a state issued permit. Idk why all law abiding citizens wouldn't get a state issued permit but that is neither here nor there.
