Should Oceania just merge with Asia?

It just has 11 teams and if they merge with Asia that puts them just slightly larger than UEFA. The only question is what would happen to their Confederations Cup spot. I have a few options.
Goes to the previous Confederations cup winner. If the previous cup winner is already in it then it goes to the previous World Cup runner up. If that team is already in it the next option would be the 3rd place World Cup team team. If we still don't have a team it goes to the previous Confederations Cup runner up. If this still doesn't produce a team just pick the highest ranked team that's not in the tournament.

I literally had this conversation with someone yesterday. I think they should. If you look at the fifa rankings, New Zealand would be 4th in Africa. If they were able to qualify 4th they would automatically be in the world cup instead of always having to win a playoff to make it. Sure they'll always get that playoff since they are far and away the best in oceania, but it would be better for there future teams to get consistent competition.

I know one of the reasons Australia left is they wanted to play better competition and I'm sure they got tired of dealing with the play off games to get in the World Cup. I wouldn't be shocked if New Zealand decided to jump ship too.

Exactly my thinking, and if they leave who the hell is going to win the region? Friggin tahiti, samoa islands, or new caledonia? I think the problem lies in the fact that the smaller nations will not be able to qualify all over asia. No way they can afford to get to games across the continent.

Of course they should merge. OFC is a joke.
The World Cup winner already qualifies for the next Confederations Cup. Fwiw

Yeah I know. I'm saying the open spot would go to the previous Confederations Cup winner but if that team is already in it would go to the previous World Cup runner up, which would be Holland this year under my rules. Holland, Spain, Nigeria, and Uruguay would be an awesome group.

Whatever they have to do to keep from ruining 1/4th of the confed cup.
Yes, its a pointless cup, tahiti get to feel good etc. But I don't give a shite, I just want to watch good soccee and this isn't that.

Good point. It would be pretty expensive if they have to travel to the middle east for games. I'd say have an island championship and the winner of that competes with the rest of Asia in the World Cup qualifying and AFC championships.

Yea fifa would basically have to get creative. Maybe even have them do a reduced version of their normal qualifying and just send new Zealand to qualify against asia.

I think the OFC should definitely merge with Asia. The qualification process is now basically New Zealand trying to play Uruguay/Chile/Ecuador/Colombia in a playoff. Before, Australia was in that position, and I can see why they got sick of that, especially since Asia has only two other good teams (Japan and South Korea). I mean look at the other squads: Iran, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, and Jordan are the most competitive. New Zealand is better than those squads, and the rest of the OFC won't make it regardless of where they play.
Eliminate OFC, keep Asia at 4.5, and create a system where the 4th place CONCACAF team plays either an African or European team for the final spot. That wil require a bit of creativity from the FIFA execs, but surely they can take a day off from fricking teenage hookers after eating 3 filet mignons to figure this out.

And besides Asia already had some island teams like Guam. Basically the South Pacific for them would be like our Caribbean division.

This part seems ambitious.
