watching the braves get crushed. odd feeling watching your sports team suck. I had gotten so used to arsenal's run lately

Don't get cocky. We've been on good runs the last seven years. Hell, in 2008 when we were shite we went on a twenty game unbeaten streak. I'm always prepared for the worst.

It has been fun but I'm still not convinced. Too many variables.

Yeah but this team is really good in spite of not being full strength ever this year. Pessimism is for pussies.

Nope, I refuse to get my hopes up for this team quite yet. I'll be cautiously optimistic till we get close to full strength. I believe in all our players, but we need some injury luck. Tactically we have shown more nous, our attacking patterns are more diverse, and we are deep everywhere on the pitch except striker. This team is very good, but our damn injury luck makes me cautious. This is the best team we've had since 2007 and we were awesome that season until Eduardo got hurt, at which point we threw the season.

We've been amazing this season, showing more creativity in attack and grit in D, but the memory of 2007 and then subsequent collapses in 09 and 10 due to similar injury crises makes me hesitant.

shite, im just excited. Long way to go, but this team is amazing to watch rt now. Im going to believe we will get some back from injury and that Ramsey will stay on form the rest of the season.

Damn Wenger is so busy banning mars bars he forgot to ban cigarettes. Get on it Arsene!!

And ehh if there's one player I wouldn't mind getting a knock for a few games against mid table competition it's Sagna. Jenks will be out first choice RB within 3 years at the most and he's proven he can hack it. I'd be willing to be if we had a big game in two weeks Cazorla and Sagna would be ready. Putting it at 3 just keeps them out of intl qualifiers

I'm not pessimistic, but cautiously optimistic.

We've had a few wins that we were fortunate to get results (Sunderland comes to mind).

We need to get healthy. Then we need some consistency in the rotation.

I'm worried about striker depth. When Podolski and Theo are healthy, I'll feel better. Haven't seen enough of Sanogo to know anything there.

But, we have Ozil and Cazorla, two of the best playmakers in the world. We have great balance and versatility in midfield, and I trust our defense.

It's been fun so far and looks to be fun moving forward. Just get healthy and I'll feel better.

Arsenal have also shown a tactical flexibility of late. Against Swansea for instance, they lined up in a kind of 4-1-3-1-1, with Flamini patrolling the width of the pitch in front of the defence and Ozil floating behind Giroud. Yet once Arsenal have the ball, Ramsey races ahead of Ozil in support of Giroud. Against Napoli, there was a slight tweak to a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Arteta sitting alongside Flamini. I suspect this is an axis that Wenger will look to for games against formidable opponents.

This is one thing, I think that we are lacking for the past few seasons. This season, with the squad depth Arsene has, he can change the formation and tactics depending on the game.

my concern with Sagna is that he's our best RB and probably our 3rd best CB. either way, with him out, we only have one RB with any experience and 3 CBs. hamstring injuries have tended to nag our players in recent years. hope it isn't a recurring injury for baccy.

when Santi gets back, we'll have a midfield of Ozil, Santi, Rambo, Jack, Arteta, Flamini, and Rosicky. 7 guys for 3-4 spots. Ox should be a few more weeks but isn't super far off. though will Ozil's addition, the chance of him getting PT in one of the midfield three roles (which seemed fairly high in preseason) is pretty much nil, but at least he can play there. we're stacked in midfield. not worried about depth there at all.

(also, that's omitting Diaby who could get a few matches in the second half of the season before getting injured again)

striker depth and defensive depth, mainly at CB, could really hurt us though. i would be interested to see Theo at CF paired with Ozil. maybe Ozil could inspire Poldi to play a little differently there too. Beowulf...who knows. Sanogo...we know even less.

Still no reason to think we won't contend. As a Saints fan I don't expect a super bowl and acknowledge some pretty debilitating headwinds regarding the OL. I still have every reason to believe they will make a run and enjoy the ride.

We are somewhat thin at key positions, but to approach a season and brilliant run as if we are on the precipice of utter collapse seems a bit negative to me.

What's the deal with TV5? Also, we could make an acquisition in the winter or perhaps move Flamini over as a stopgap.
