My brother is getting married next summer, so we're thinking about ideas for the bachelor party and a fishing trip came up as an idea. Does anyone have any good info on fishing charters out of Grand Isle/Venice/Cocodrie? We're thinking a full day deep sea trip (really interested in tuna and other big stuff). Anyone have a recommendation between the different locations? What Captain to use? Typical cost?

Thanks for any info.

I've been out of Venice. Too long ago to remember the captain, and I didn't pay for it, but I do remember it was fun. Stayed at some small motel. Good times.

Paging treble hook

I have an offshore charter booked with paradise outfitters in August out of Venice, I'll let you know how it goes.

I'd recommend Ian McGowan with Apex charters in grand isle. From what I've seen, most day trips to tuna waters are around 1700-2100, although that was over a year ago. Overnighters are gonna be considerably more than that

Thanks. I know I have some time, but just wanted to get some insight. We just got back from The Keys and saw advertisements for Shark trips. That's where the idea came from and now I'm starting to get excited.

Thanks. I'll look into him. I assume that includes fuel and would accommodate up to 6 people fishing? We may have as many as 8 fishing, but might have to trim to 6 depending on how many the boat can take.

Does anyone know of a charter that could hold 8 fishermen? Most are 5-6 that I've seen.

Not sure of any that take 8......most are 6.

Paradise is $2K for a full day, everything except tip included.

This is the correct answer, you can do 3 nights all inclusive, party in town every night, airfare, and an offshore trip for ~1300...

I think there is someone in Venice that does more than 6; might want to check there. FWIW, 8 people would be a cluster on a charter, especially if you start catching fish. Even on a big boat, you can only have so many people hooked up at one time, and the others will constantly being trying to get out of the way.
