I am trying to take the wife to a nice restaurant this weekend. We always do Ruffino's, Flemings, Ruth's, Little Village, and Gino's. Looking for a upscale, hidden gem place or just a place that we havent gone to like Mansur's. What is the thoughts of the board for a place to go to?

Beausoliel isn't fancy but its a nice place with great food. There is also stroube's downtown, or Maison lacour

Beau Soleil or Louisiana Lagniappe.

Stroube's (upscale, but not hidden)
Louisiana Lagniappe (ditto)
Beausoleil (not exactly upscale, but the menu is creative and wonderfully executed)
Roberto's (definitely hidden, but a short drive from South BR, food is great)

Latil's Landing at Houmas House if you don't mind driving 30 minutes...

What are people's opinions on Mansur's or Roberto's?

Mansur's is very good. Service and food are excellent. Mrs. Huxtable would be pleased.

Mansur's is solid. Not spectacular but not memorable either. At least for me.
Haven't been to Roberto's,

Both are very good, Roberto's is in a old general store, nice but rustic. Mansur's is a little more upscale. The food at both is good, but Mansur's i probably a little more refined...

Juban's or Mansur's are the two top ones in my book, followed closely by Galatoire's Bistro. For more moderate prices, I don't think you can beat Portobello's or Cafe Americain. Portobello's just rolled out a new menu and some new sides that are a big improvement.

Give Maison Lacour a shot if you want something fancy and different. Roberto's would also be a good choice, if you want something a little more casual.

Roberto's has really good food. The stuffed fried shrimp are excellent. It's a nice little drive out there.
Beausoleil is very good too. And they make nice cocktails.

Pinettas - I would never expect a place like that to be in that location.
IPO - haven't been yet, but I heard it's nice.
Tsunami - your wife will probably love it.
