what are the damn field dimensions. with the new bats, they should move the fences in. when every game is uber low scoring they are going to run fans off.

It was the bats, the balls, AND the field. What got LSU through the season was not going to get them through at Ameritrade. One of the problems I have always had with baseball was that while football fields and basketball courts had defined dimensions, the outfield on baseball fields vary.

They just need to go to wood bats and the minor league ball. Marucci would be happy!

Schools that already lose money on baseball (i.e. just about everyone but LSU) wouldn't like having to spend a whole bunch of extra money replacing every wooden bat that breaks.

The NCAA needs to try to get MLB on board and involved financially in that regard. It would be mutually beneficial.

Alas, that makes too much sense, though. Which means it'll never happen.

They make wood bats too. See Albert Pujols and numerous other big leaguers.

I like the different field dimensions it's what keeps baseball interesting. Hey they had no problem hitting the ball we shouldn't have either but we did. No confidence is what I saw.

I hated how the commentators were circlejerking about how the change was needed, low scoring games are good, etc etc.

frick that. I bet ESPN and the NCAA gave them talking points. College ball isn't supposed to be completely analogous to MLB.

The new bats having college baseball going that route. It makes it easier for scouts. Now a college hitter better translates into a minor/major league hitter.

If they are gonna do this, then high school players should not be allowed to go pro straight out of high school. They should all have to play by the 3 years or 21 years of age rule. Then you would have more high caliber hitters capable of hitting homeruns playing college ball.

TD Ameritrade field dimensions are the same as Rosenblatt stadium.

This. The old bats have never seen TD Ameritrade. I believe they played with the new bats the last year of Rosenblatt.

Changing to the minor league ball seems to be the route to go. Lets see if it happens in 2014.

This and Manieri does not like to bunt his 3,4 and 5 guys.

OP: the balls are also different the NCAA is supposed to look at the balls after the 2014 season.

Amateur baseball was just too exciting -- so they had to
Neutralize that .
Ok--- let's screw with footballs so the they can't pass as much
To bring scores down. 7-6 football is so exciting-- fans would
Pack the stadiums I'm sure.
And while we are at it -- they really should adjust the basketball size to decrease scoring- that really will pack
The fans in to watch low scoring games.
This is insanity. They took the fun out of it for me.
