if it makes the game more "national"... i.e. teams from the midwest, west, etc. can now compete better, then there is NO WAY the bats get significantly improved.

there have been attempts to cure the "problem" of having no Big 10 or Northern teams in Omaha for a long time. problem appears to be solved.

There is nothing "national" about games finishing 2-1, 2-1, 2-0, and 1-0. These types of games are acceptable in the MLB because it is always the case of two great pitchers shutting down great hitters.

UNC scored plenty of runs, two of them with a long ball.

The bats aren't changing because LSU fans have sour grapes. I swear we're starting to sound like a collective of Jim Tressels bitching about how this used to be a game of honor when the chips were falling our way.

You're on your own boat, its not just LSU fans, its the entire college baseball world. The game can now be compared to soccer. Every bit of excitement has been taken away from the game. Pitchers now can get away with serving fastball high up in the zone over the plate.

It's not just sour grapes... The game of the 90's up to 2009 was fun to watch. It's boring now, worse than MLB which sucks.

Lets make Tiger woods only use hickory clubs.

Hey look everyone, it's that guy. You know the one who likes to show he is "so much better, more sophisticated, and doesnt have ""sour grapes"'. This isnt LSU fans whining about losing, its the fact that it has changed, to the point of being unwatchable, most LSU fans favorite event of the year. Imagine if they took March Madness and did away with the shot clock. That is what we have now in the CWS. Teams "holding the ball".

LSU lost and deserved to lose, and everyone gets that (especially you oh enlightened one). But its not even fun to watch anymore.

and it's not just LSU fans complaining. Every fan base I've encountered hates what the game has turned into and thinks TDA coupled with dead bats and balls has ruined the CWS

Kyle Peterson hasn't gone an inning without mentioning the lack of home runs, or the lack of pop off the bats. It's not just lsu fans. I sincerely hope the final game is won 1-0 in the bottom of the 16th on a intentional walk passed ball.

I like the way the game is played now and still enjoy watching the CWS. 2009 and earlier there were too many guys hitting the ball out the park that shouldn't have been.

I noticed that, and believe me I wish we could go back to the 2009 bats. My point is that base hits, and home runs, are still happening. Our workhorses went cold, period. I didn't see anywhere near this much bitching about the bats a week ago.

Probably because LSU wasnt in Omaha last week. The issue most fans have is that the CWS is being ruined. Yea they would like more home runs in the regular season. But when the Championship tournament is being played and the game is significantly different, there is a problem.

5 runs in 2 games is not "plenty"

Run totals for Omaha teams:

OSU: 16 (3 games)
MSU: 10
NCST: 9
Indiana: 6 (3 games)
UNC: 5
UCLA: 4
Louisville: 4
LSU: 3

5 runs would have won any single game of this CWS, most of them would be considered a blowout.

Didn't the team hit approx .305 this season. Where was all the bitching about the bats during the season?

and home runs, are still happening.

How many HRs have been hit so far. When I last checked in (during the LSU-UNC game) it was 2 in 7 games. That's "still happening," but not very much. Unless of course we are witnessing some of the greatest pitching in CWS history. I don't mind if you call me a whiny bitch, but this current product is not nearly as much fun as before the new bats. It doesn't mean LSU's circumstances change (although I think they beat UCLA), but it means that fans should complain about a diminished entertainment value in a game that was being built on entertainment. The fans can whine after a crappy performance and blame it on whatever, but the actual product... the entertainment has changed to stress about small ball details and not excitement when you hear the ping.

The ping was what made me a huge post season college baseball fan. Now, every time I watch a game in Hoover or Omaha it makes me want to change the channel and avoid the 9 innings of stressing out over walks and errors on bunts.

The current game is like relay croquet.
