I just feel kinda empty. Wasn't ready for the season to be over but then I never am unless we win it all.

Adam, what do you see Cartwrights role on this team being?

He's going to be brought up slowly where he can mature two different off speed pitches to get over for consistent strikes.

Anyone know what Alden Cartwright's role on the team will be? I didn't think he had the stuff to make the team, but heard from a reliable source that he is enrolled in summer classes at working out at the Box. Is this common for commits?

What happened to the Minute Maid Classic? shite, I was thinking we'd have Rice and Texas on the schedule. Also, I recall ND being in the mix

Maineri is doing them a favor by opening their renovated Privateer Park for that Saturday game

I knew this was happening one of the days of the series, but wasn't sure which.

VA Tech hosted a Regional this year, that's not too bad of an early season match-up even it is only one game.

Good summary. Drop by the 2014 commitment thread when you have time.

Get UVA.

Won't happen. I remember hearing during the CWS game against them in 09, our coaches won't schedule each other due to friendship. I would love a H&H with them, but we won't see it while CPM is here and BOC is at UVA.

How has Broussard's rehab been going? Will he be able to throw again in the fall?

I question this. Stevenson, Laird and McMullen all have speed but did very little on the bases. Frankly, other than McMullenthey looked lost on the bases esp. Stevenson. Really makes me wonder how this happens when teams like Vandy were running wild.

Anyone else think McCune could come back and be the sunday starter?? He seemed good in his last outing. Now that he has time to get a lot of work in post-injury I think he will be good to go.

Also hoping Newman can mature pretty fast. Kids got a cannon

Good question. It was noted and became extremely visible throughout the year how raw Laird was in base stealing. I have a feeling from now until the practices begin both are going to be working extensively with coaches in the feel for the pitchers leg movement and when to take off vs getting picked off.

Some kids have that natural instinct ala Bregman, however Mainieri knows how vital the running game will be next year and we'll see a much more mature Laird and Stevenson.

As far as I know he hasn't had any major setbacks or cause for concern. Whether or not they bring him back in live situations during the fall remains to be seen.

Thanks Adam, we just got back from Omaha and my wife and I had this exact discussion coming back. You've answered all of our questions about '14. I'm already getting up for our next run to Omaha!!!

a three game set with UNO?

I'm sure this has been mentioned... but Mainieri is doing UNO a favor by bringing LSU there for UNO to open their redone park. That will fill the stands (surely w/ a lot of LSU fans) and bring some excitement back to UNO baseball as they come back up to DI

CPM is doing a lot... not just for LSU baseball... but for college baseball all across the state of Louisiana. He knows LSU baseball puts butts in seats and he's trying to spread that wealth to college ball parks across the state
