When LSU wins it is because the players execute and the coach gets no credit.

When LSU loses it is entirely the coaches fault and has nothing to do with whether the players failed to execute.

Only losers "pin" losses on individuals. Our team got beaten; it's as simple as that. Laird went 3 for 4. Had he gone 4 for 4 we might have won. But no one would dream of blaming Laird. The point is, that an incremental improvement by anyone, including the coaches, could be the difference.

BTW, I realize your larger point was to give credit, not blame.

Individual failures are on the player, team failures are on the coach. This year, the entire team "slumped" at the plate in the CWS, so the failure was bigger than a single error or a single player having a bad weekend. The coaching staff didn't have them ready for what they faced in Omaha, be it the pitcher's park, the atmosphere, the opposing pitchers or whatever.

The unrest with Manieri is because the last four years haven't measured up to the expectations of LSU baseball. No postseason in 2010. Not hosting a regional and losing 2 out of 3 in someone else's regional in 2011. Losing to Stonybrook in the suoer regional in 2012 and going 2 and Q in the CWS scoring only 3 runs in 2013.

LSU is the most storied baseball program in the nation over the last 20+ years. It showed the rest of the nation how to make college baseball relevent. For this program, making the CWS one time in four years and then being sent home after 2 games is a major disappointment. It is natural that fans will express frustration with the coach who has lead the team the last four years.

Why would we hold Maineiri responsible? He is only the head coach.

Hitters have to hit. That's what they are there for.

The players didn't execute, but the coach failed to realize this and adjust accordingly. Thus he is equally at fault.

If y'all think he should have shuffled the line up for yesterday's game, y'all are more crazy then I thought..you don't change the line up that got you to the cws after one game. Now if we would have squeaked out that win yesterday then you have grounds for that argument but not after one game.

The people on here would. I think most of the people on here think the lineup for each game should be the hitters in order of who had the best game in the last game that was played - mixed in with some of the guys on the bench of course, because they are always better.

Idk. Maybe when you see that one of those hitters can't get it done with runners on YOU frickING BUNT HIM.

Manieri sacrificed at least two runs by letting Raph swing away yesterday.
