Finally purchased the gun I've been looking for
Bought it at Bass Pro in Denham Springs

had to wait the mandatory waiting period ...Anyone have experience with applying for a UPIN?
This is the 2nd time I've had to wait to purchase a handgun

Thanks
can't wait to shoot it!

There is no mandatory wait period. There is a delay while the NICS does more extensive background check on about 40% of purchasers, but it isn't a mandatory wait period.

Also, UPIN costs like 20 bucks and it is just filling out some paperwork and mailing it off

ETA, sweet freakin piece . How much did it run ya?

I knew I shouldn't have said "mandatory waiting period".. It seems I have a mandatory waiting period when it comes to purchasing guns.

This was $469 out the door (I had 2 $100 gift cards I've been holding onto for this purchase)

Nice. Is it pretty concealable as far as .45s go?

That holster comes with it, but it's pretty crappy. I bought a Foxx holster (hybrid type) and really like it.

The foxx holster is $39 with free shipping. I got it 4 days after I ordered it. I also have one for my XD 45.

The gun is solid. For me, it shoots about an inch lower than my XD45 (maybe it's just me). The grip is pretty small with the 5 round mags and my pinkies hang off the end. My wife ordered me two 7 round mags for Father's Day and I'll try them out when they come in.

The gun has some pop to it, but nothing crazy. All around, solid piece that I am very comfortable carrying.

If I hit him an inch lower than I'm aiming with that, he'll probably be still anyway.

I am seriously considering one.

There is an 800 number you can call and dispute your hold-ups. I used to get a delay. A buddy of mine who was a dealer gave me the number. I called it, waited 3 weeks, bought a gun, viola; no wait.

Sorry don't have the number anymore, this was years ago. You should be able to ask any FFL, surely they know who to call.

You will not be disappointed with the XD-S .45 , just be sure to go to the range after you get it and practice with it some. If your not used to shooting a smaller framed handgun with a large caliber it's good to get used to it

Yeah, I'd like to put some rounds through one before I buy. I have a S&W 4506, but it is pretty sizable. My smaller carry guns are 9mm and .380. Not a good comparison.

Pearce grip extensions for the stock mags are all you need.
I also purchased the extended mags as well but found I dont care for them in the CC role. Plus if 5 rounds of .45 dont put them down then an extra two wont matter. :)

The grip ext on stock mags made a WORLD of difference and should be considered mandatory for this pistol

Love mine. Hell of an accurate gun for a subcompact
