If we pick Burke…?

It is starting to look like Burke is the pick. If that is the case, what would be the point guard situation next year? A few questions come to mind:

1 is Burke ready to start in the NBA straight away?
If the answer is yes, then do we keep Vasquez as backup or trade Vasquez and trust Roberts?
If the answer is yes, would Vasquez agree to be Burke's back up?
If the answer is no, can Vasquez really refuse given the fact that he has a year left in his contract?
If the answer to question 1 is no, then again do we keep Vasquez to start at the beginning and then transition into Burke? Or do we look for an additional upgrade for the PG position?

I believe Burke will succeed in the NBA. I just don't see this dude being a bust. Therefore I want to draft him. Not ready to give up on Rivers though.

He's already played in the NBA and you assessed that he's a slightly better Jameer Nelson? Where did these facts come from?

If you are right and he starts from day one, do you think Vasquez will be cool being his backup? It is very different being the backup of a rookie, than being the backup PG of an elite player.

Seems like you know he didn't play in the NBA, so my post must be based on speculation, right? You can understand it, I trust you, big boy.

I would be willing to take a chance on being wrong about him. Watching him play, he is just a gamer. He hustles, he takes control of games, and he can score.

You don't come across players like that very often.

ETA: I really should have read the rest of the OP.

At this point, I don't think keeping Vasquez as a backup could hurt. We just need to find a good SF somewhere.

Burke was THE BEST player I saw in the NCAA Tourney last year nd I think his game will translate easily to the net level. I would draft him and not think twice.

And GV does not have near enough skins on the wall to cry about being a backup or starter. Don't think he will have issues.

Let's look at the most recent Oscar Robertson award winners (aka best college pg):
2003–04 Jameer Nelson* Saint Joseph's Senior
2004–05 Raymond Felton North Carolina Junior
2005–06 Dee Brown Illinois Senior
2006–07 Acie Law Texas A&M Senior
2007–08 D. J. Augustin Texas Sophomore
2008–09 Ty Lawson North Carolina Junior
2009–10 Greivis Vásquez Maryland Senior
2010–11 Kemba Walker Connecticut Junior
2011–12 Kendall Marshall North Carolina Sophomore
2012–13 Trey Burke* Michigan Sophomore

But wait, trey burke was also the college player of the year. so was jameer nelson.

You all better get acquainted with that list of players to get a good idea of what burke's career will be like

And? Nelson was the 20th pick in the draft. Burke is projected to go in the top 6.

According to who? Draftexpress has him going 7th. So do other mocks. I think there is a very clear top 6. After those 6, it's meh

Then that must automatically make him another Jameer Nelson. What logic! No reason to watch him play. Wish I had that crystal ball.

Y'all are acting like Jameer Nelson is a scrub. The dude is a solid starter. I'd take him over Vasquez, and I'm a Vasquez semi fan.

Eta. I wasn't necessarily talking to you. I just replied to your post.

Did I say that automatically makes him another jameer nelson? there are just a lot of similarities there and people are on his dick because he hit a few 3s in college.

He's not an nba TALENT, physically, period.

"People are on his dick because he hit a few 3s on college". Yeah, that's the reason why they like him.

C'mon son.

So now its he's not the physical specimen you desire, you gotta pick one. You must want some jump out the building athletic type. This team isn't trying to get built with just a bunch of athletes.

Do you watch college ball? He is NBA TALENT, clearly. That's not saying he will be a star, but clearly NBA TALENT.

And if Howard stayed and they had a better 2, they might've won one.
