I guess he'll still start, but this is approaching ridiculous. I feel bad for the guy when he comes up to bat he's so overmatched. I'm sure he's trying his best, but he's got to feel the crowd's collective <sigh> when he comes up to bat.

He's batting under .190....that's hard to do in college. He's really no threat to do anything offensively.

Why can't he at leasat try to bunt?
I just don't get it....can't remember seeing anything like this....with a guy like Foster on the bench.

Foster should be in the lineup even if he is hitting DH and leading off in McMullin's spot.

In regards to Stevenson, I get the argument that we need him in center but I think Laird could suffice in center. He is just TERRIBLE at the plate. It is tough to watch, actually.

It will be interesting to see if he even stays on the squad next year...

This remains a question that we won't be able to figure out. I agree because Laird was certainly capable in CF. I liked Stevenson early on (saw that home run he hit at the Box and thought he would be another Mahtook).

Foster's not a great rf by any means, but his bat ought to make up for that. He can do no worse than Stevenson and agreed...how does this kid not know how to bunt with his God-given speed? With Laird in center and Jones and Bregman in the lineup, base stealing certainly is not the reason he's in there...speed in the outfield is it, but you already have a horrible-hitting Ross above him. Give the next start to Foster.

Too many dead innings at the bottom of the lineup.

He's starting because he can cover the most ground in this huge park.

Remember this...?

But but that doesn't contribute to the team....

I applaud your effort today at trying to bring logic to people who are bitching about everything. Luckily on Tuesday evening they will all go away after a win.

He's legit defensively. We will need his contributions out there against a much better hitting unc team, but it's hard to argue that his defense is so much better than laird that he deserves a spot in the lineup.

Maybe it is the fact that his defense + Laird's defense at the same time is that much better. I'm a foster fan but even I can't deny that is a much better outfield.

Laird would've been camped under that ball.

Yeah, foster seems to make too many mistakes to trust in right. Laird and Stevenson make for a great outfield. It really is just hard to watch Stevenson at the plate.

Same reason Helenihi started at 3rd in 2009. Defense wins championships. There are 6 guys batting .300 or better and Jones at .295. Team was just off last night. CPM will make adjustments and the boys will come ready to play tomorrow afternoon.

Another dead horse being beaten, but Paul has a plan and he don't like being quesioned. I see no reason Laird is not in center and Foster in right. And get Mooore at DH while you're at it. Mc M is 0fer june.............

Helinihi was a much better hitte than Stevenson, but I think your point is valid.

exactly
If he has to be in there (which is extremely questionable regardless of what some of you want to believe) then why not at least try to bunt?
It makes no sense. The poor guy's swing is so overmatched. The sample size is credible.

Stevenson hasn't been the big problem at the plate. Don't single just him out when this is what everyone else is doing...

Counting the Supers and Last night
McMullen: 0-11
Bregman: 2-13
Katz: 1-11
Rhymes: 3-11
Ibarra: 0-10 (hasn't had a hit since the Jackson St. Game)
Stvenson: 2-7
