Old Ebbitt is a classic choice, Jose Andre's Jaleo is also nice

what kind of food are you looking for?

Jaleo and any of the other Jose Andres spots are pretty great. Oyamel is his take on Mexican street food. I also really like Central for unfussy, updated French bistro fare.

Zaytinya is really good, it's a Jose Andres place. Greek food served tapas style.

Looking for a nice dinner one night, would like to try some local staples rest of the time, good atmosphere, good drinks, and good local food. Ill be on my own for lunch on Thursday and Friday.

Maybe grab a burger from Shake Shack for lunch on Thursday or Friday. There is one in DuPont Circle.

If you're wanting to do the tourist thing, do to Ben's Chili Bowl.

Is Bens Chilli Bowl a tourist trap or a can't miss spot?

For burgers, none beats Ollie's Trolly.
But we did enjoy Old Ebbit Grill.

Ben's may be a tourist trap, but that is a legit chili dog.

Old Ebbit Grill is pretty good.

Go to Georgetown and eat at Filomena (they have the pasta mamas)

Go drink in Adams Morgan.

Also, if you like beer, go to Churchkey.

Ehh, Old Ebbit is skippable. Its average, boring country club cuisine. Maybe for a drink, but a meal there in DC is a meal wasted.

Bistrot du Coin - 1738 Connecticut Ave NW - great French food and people watching. Reasonably priced wine.

Pizzeria Paradiso - 2003 P St NW - excellent beer selection and delicious pizza.

Exactly. It's Galatoire's with worse food, higher prices, and less charm.
