I hit 3w on my second shot on just about every par5 unless there's a hazard in front or it's a short hole. Farthest par 5 I remember reaching (not being on) in 2 is like 520 or so, and thats with 2 murdered shots

You have 290 to some water, so you have to hit short of that. Then you have to go over the water 180-190 or so to get on the front of the green.
If your tee shot is blocked by the oak, you play it to the green in 3. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I could get there then, assuming a good tee shot, which is my downfall. Seems to be coming back around with the new driver though. For a while I hit 3w off every tee because I was hitting it farther than my driver

From the tip, a full driver(on a line to the pis) is in the water. You have to take a weird line to keep it in play. Not one you would want..
A 3 wood, or 2 iron off the tip could leave 200 to the green, right over water. Tough shot, because of the sand all around, and water guarding in the front.
It's a great hole. Partly because of the fact that it ends the round.

Go down the pipe, and let it cut. Why not? If you're straight off the tee, and short of the tree, you still have a line to the green.
