Big ball park + new bats means that's our only option. Its gimicky and I know we all hate to watch it, but tonight made it clear that we aren't going to put up many runs with our current style of play. UCLA proved that it works by getting runners in scoring position and capitalizing when their bullshite gimicky offense lead to errors.

I guess you can put me on #TeamBunt

Agree completely. Have to adjust because of the field

It helps to get a man on before you have 2 outs in the inning before subscribing to any particular philosophy.

16 Pop- ups = 6 innings of easy outs
That's ridiculous .

Depends on the matchup you're facing.

Against a pitcher like Plutko and the rest of their staff, it wouldn't hurt. At the same time, UCLA is a lot more practiced at it than we are and trying to match styles with a team like that probably wouldn't have gone too well either.

I think if we had laid off on a few more pitches and had a more patient approach at the plate, we win this game. That being said, if Bregman doesn't boot a grounder we probably win too.

I tend to agree...if it is impossible to hit one out, then fly balls are basically just a sac fly at best. gotta work in some small ball in order to be successful...I just hope we are decent at executing that type of play...

We have gone small ball. We keep our .189 hitting center fielder in the lineup to chase down fly balls.

I'm on #TeamCorrectCoaching.

Bunting is objectively stupid in most cases. In Ralph's AB it was the correct decision. Barry's thread was dead on.

What an overreaction to a guy that was working up in the zone and caused LSU to hit a ton of lazy popups.

LSU couldn't hit the ball on a line. LSU won in Hoover which is just as massive. They just need to get base hits.

Two of those long balls that stayed in the park were to left and weren't terribly far off the line which is marked as 335. The box is marked as 330 in the same spot if I'm not mistaken. Are you saying we need to change our whole offensive philosophy over 5 fricking feet & two balls that came up short?

This is stupid, we need to keep our hitting philosophy, and bunt less.

it is a really bad park in general, and it seems like the NCAA is trying to encourage small ball.
