Of course they don't say it. But their hatred for religion is a major driving force in their lives. In a way, these guys love religion more than Jimmy Swaggart.

I am an atheist, and I don't hate religion. Everyone can believe what they want. Why can't you accept that and let me believe what I want ?

You choosing to believe doesn't really affect my day to day life.

Heck one of my closest friends is the pastor of his church.

here come the "it's adaptation, not evolution" arguments

I spent a good chunk of my TD formative years attempting to enlighten creationists on the poliboard, but if the species already had the ability to go both ways is it really evolution rather than adaptation? In this short term window we're looking at you really can't say one way or the other.

I know they'll have to adapt but I wonder how much not having arms will affect their eating/survival?

I think it's more formidable for an animal that relies on camouflage and elusiveness to be able to lay her eggs instead of carrying them around, slowing her down. Also, like I mentioned above, one would think that not having legs would be harder to eat/survive.

Maybe you're right. Maybe they were always physically ABLE to do so but it's a higher chance if survival to lay eggs.

Who knows? The predator threat may not have been so rampant. Nobody in this thread knows one way or the other.

I'm not saying one or the other but this is new to all of us so acting like someone knows what or why they're doing this is just as dumb as they type of people they're mocking.

For the record, I'm not making excuses, but to me thinking this proves anything is just as dumb as people who think "look at these canyons and mountains, proof God is real!"...

I thought it was clear I was referring specifically to the types of atheists that posted on the first page of this thread.

re: Evolution in Action: Lizard Moving From Eggs to Live Birth

Since you are interested in this subject, you might enjoy this thread about similarities between skinks and marsupials in the evolution of teeth. There was a comment about skinks that bear live young:

quote:

Lygosomine skinks are extremely mammal-like in many regards:

Many have well-developed molariform regions
Many have a complete or incomplete secondary palate
Many have complex extended social bonding between mates
Many have complex extended care of offspring, sometimes for several years
Some species demonstrate true vivipary with nutrient and gas transport across a mother-offspring blood barrier in a placenta-like derivation of the yolk sac
Some species may be weakly endothermic

So the fact that a group of marsupials, which we already know are in competition with various lizard taxa in Australia, were potentially outcompeted by lygosomines is not extremely unexpected, but it's pretty freaking awesome nonetheless.

Found here. (It starts out talking about snails.)
