Talked with an agent friend and he said that it isn't LDWF issuing the tickets, that it is LSP and other departments. They don't get any money from enforcing this

I guess ldwf needs some income

Jindal (after pandering to sportsman organizations to get elected) has out and out raped us, especially in the second term. Cut budgets at state agencies (needed in some places, cutting bone in others) and swept all the dedicated funds, like rigs to reefs and others that should have been spent on outdoor activities, not balancing a bloated state budget. I'm seeing this nickel and dime stuff in every state agency-LSP setting up radar traps on places like the Seigen Lane overpass on Sunday morning as a another example.

Jindal was a jerk long before being elected Governor.

A buddy told me every boat owner at the Mississippi River boat launch near St. Francisville got a ticket last week for not having valid inspection stickers on their boat trailers. The fines are just North of $250 bucks. Does anyone else have similar stories, or was it a rouge rabbit sheriff dick move isolated to that area?
They cracking down. Need to get all the lights going on my trailers and get inspected.

So if I keep my boat in a shed on private property and launch the boat at the same private launch, can I be given a ticket even though my trailer never hits a public road/highway?

I would certainly hope not. My buddy got one not too long ago for putting his trailer on the road the one time a year he gets his boat out the slip.

I'll have to ask around then. I like to drink a little beer when I'm in my boat, so the less interaction at the boat ramp, the better. I want one that is large enough to see from a distance.

I don't literally laugh out loud on here often, but this was a good one.

No. And your 5 year old can drive the truck to the launch.

A five year old would do better than most of my buddies at the launch.

I think it's a good idea and have no problem paying the 10 or 20 bucks to get it inspected. While I have never personally been involved in an accident because of it, I have seen some pretty raggedy trailers on the road.

Those trailers, just like the raggedy vehicles you see on the road, will never see an inspection station.

They don't check inspection stickers in certain parts of town.

Same as DUI checkpoints.

They do like to get paid for these offenses.
