tale of the tape

race
welker white
amendola white

speed
welker 40 time 4.65
amendola 40 time 4.58

height/weight
welker 5'9"/185
amendola 5'11"/188

Both entered New England at the same point in their respective careers.

year before New england
welker 67 catches off 100 targets(career high at the time)
amendola 63 catches off 101 targets(cut short by injury, 85 catches off 123 target career high at the time)

in 2007 welker "burst"(for those who didn't draft him) on the scene for 112 catches, 1,175 yards and 8 tds

Will Danny boy beat that?

Compare their college numbers as well, look at their injury histories, and go see if Randy Moss is also on the Patriots. I think you will find your answer.

You can have Amendola with Brady, I'll take Welker with Manning.

Amendola is the primary target for NE with virtually no supporting cast around him, besides Hernandez, now that Gronk is hurt. Double teams all day.

Welker will be one of 3 legit targets for DEN. I know they'll spread it around and run it, too, but Welker fell into a great situation.

If he stays healthy he will have well over 100 catches. They didn't have shite in St. Louis either and he had a significantly worse qb to boot.

All about staying healthy for Amendola. When was the last season he played a complete season?

Welker averages almost 2.5 more yards per catch.

He's a better player than Amendola.

Belichek prefers Amendola over Welker. He tried to make this happen last year. Thats all you need to know.
