It is amazing when you listen to these bands from the 70s and hear how good the songs still stand up today. The musicianship of these bands are still something to behold.

Can't You See- The Marshal Tucker Band
Toy Caldwell on lead guitar and vocals, thumb picking and maybe the least known great guitarist of the era.

Green Grass and High Tides- The Outlaws
Another great song from a Florida band. The guitars howl in this one.

Call Me the Breeze- Skynyrd
I know, Freebird is their signature song, but this is my favorite. This song was written by JJ Cale.

Tavelin' Shoes- Elvin Bishop
Like Charlie Daniels said, "He ain't good lookin' but he sure can play".

Please feel free to add any of your own.

ABB is my favorite band of all time and Skydog is on guitar Mt. Rushmore, but I consider them the ultimate blues/rock band of all time. They set the standard for all Southern rock bands and were the first of the genre.
However there have been multiple threads about them on the OT and the Music Board in the past and I thought it might be time to share a few more from the era.
Believe me, I didn't mean to slight the ABB in the least and it was unintentional.

It was Travis Tritt that said "Damn I miss Duane Allman and wish he were still around."

Never really thought of them as Southern rock. I believe they are from Detroit originally.
