The internet here used to be as fast as the mother frick. now it's crawling and i couldn't even download a Last of Us patch so im hijacking my neighbor's wifi across the street. Is there any reason why the wifi would slow down all of a sudden? ISP is Bellsouth

Your ISP throttling your bandwidth during peak hours.

Happens to almost everyone on DSL

Bellsouth is terrible...they never hit advertised speeds. Probably something running in the background is holding it up, try rebooting the modem may help.

any cable internet provider >>>> DSL

remember that DSL speeds will be slower and subject to throttling based on the distance from hub and number of users on the system.

with cable, youll have none of that.

thing that sucks about cable is when everyone on that shared line in a block or row of houses uses it during peak hours, fiber from fios ftw

i have a 15Mbps account and never experience a slow down. your lags will end up being latency not throughput.

hell at work we have a 6Mbps account. same as above.

FiOS has almost made it here. I can't wait.

25mbs is more than enough if there isn't a lot of traffic in your house
