Sigh all you want but that is my opinion.
I rented from Gamefly Assassin's Creed 3, Far Cry 3, Hitman: Absolution, and Tomb Raider.
That is $260 worth of games, none which IMO, were worth $60. They were 1 play through and done.
Instead of spending $260, and getting back maybe 80-120 from trading them in/selling them, I spent $22.95 for 2 games out at a time via Gamefly and beat all 4 in a month.

That's not why I sighed
It's because yet again you miss the point/big picture and no I am not going to explain it to you because you don't get it yet and I am not sure you ever will.
Lew caught on earlier. Ask him to help you out maybe.

It's just how it is, rentals will always be there, either via physical copy or via digital download.
There will always be a huge market for it.
Knocking a game price down from $60 to $50 does not change that, still WAY cheaper to subscribe to a Gamefly type and beat multiple games for half the price of 1 game.

The point is that with DRM content they can do gamefly, steam, redbox, netflix, etc. all wrapped up into one thing. It is not hard to understand.

Yeah, that's not happening.

If I get both consoles, does that make me a fig?

Their new thing is that if Microsoft goes all digital it would become the Fidel Castro of gaming and tell other Fortune 500 companies (EA, Activision, etc) who could and couldn't sell their games digitally.
Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo can already say who can and can't sell games for their consoles. Doesn't matter if it is digital or not. Publishers have to pay license fees, and the console makers don't HAVE to accept you.

I feel like a Hodor who just started reading GoT. Just read the whole thread. Very good read, and very enlightening. I'd say before reading that I was firmly believeing in the current system. I'll be getting both consoles but the ps4 first bc that's where my buddies will be. As someone said earlier, it's very forward thinking and does make a lot of sense. I'm all for cheaper games at release. I was turned off by microsofts approach but after reading that it makes perfect sense. I'd like to see more incentives to the digital games at launch. Maybe a 10% discount to encourage it over the physical disc as a way of easing people into it and the more and more they go that route we can start to see the benefit of the people who make the games get the money mor often, thus driving down the price of games in the future. I know I know I'm restating what's been said but if more people were educated we could start to see some benefits.
