A Look Ahead: 2014 LSU Baseball Lineup w/ Rotations
Posted on 6/13/13 at 2:29 pm

Let's waste the next two days looking at lineup possibilities and rotations for next season.
But first, let's see who is leaving.
Seniors
Rhymes, Katz, Edward, Bourgeois, Cotton, Bonvillain, Yocom, Berry
Expected to Sign Early
Eades, Jones, Ross, LaMarche, Rumbelow
Recruits Expected to Sign
Justin Williams - FML
David Palladino - already signed
Starting Positions
C - Chris Chinea
1B - N. Longhi
2B - C. Hale
SS - A. Bregman
3B - C. Ibarra
RF - M. Laird
CF - A. Stevenson
LF - J. DeHart or J. Fraley
DH - S. McMullen
Fri P - Nola
Sat P - Glenn
Sun P - Bugg
Midweek P - Poche
Cut Players = Sciambra and some possible recruits, we just don't have the space on the roster for everyone who is coming in and who is on the roster right now.
Lineup
1 - Laird - RF
2 - McMullen - DH
3 - Bregman - SS
4 - Ibarra - 3B
5 - Longhi - 1B
6 - Hale - 2B
7 - DeHart or Fraley - LF
8 - Chinea - C
9 - Stevenson - CF
Again, Tyler Moore could end up making the starting lineup, same goes for Foster but it would all depend on how they perform against the incoming recruits. The competition for next season will be tight.
What you guys have????

i think Moore will slide into first base. He's been a solid fill in guy and could easily be a good bat in the 6-7 spot as a lefty.

Why not the reverse of this, like we've had most of this year?

does a red shirt player go to the official rostar?
Posted on 6/13/13 at 2:37 pm to tadelatt
would scaimbra being a walk on help keep him around? could taylor butler be on the chopping block? I dont recognize his name.

Is this this current consensus?

I'd have to think Foster and Sciambra get a chance to start in the OF.

I would think Ross comes back. If he can hit around .300 next year I'd have to assume that'd increase his draft stock

No way Mainieri cuts a Catholic High (local) player going into the kid's junior year.

Broussard is going to get the first shot at Sunday's

we have some stud OFs coming in this recruiting class.
Dehart, Longhi, and Fraley. Wouldnt surprise me to see any of them pass up Foster and Scaimbra.

I think McCune gets the first shot at Sunday actually

quote:maybe, but Broussard was going to be the Sunday guy this year before his injury. if he returns to the same form, I don't see why he wouldn't get first shot

Ross is prob signing.
He is a Junior and was drafted in the 12th round, he isn't going to climb much higher next season so his negotiating tactics will be useful this year.
If he waits until he is a Senior, he won't be able to negotiate with a team and either take what they give him or else.
Good chance he is gone - 90%

Hard to think Foster won't have a position. I do agree that Laird has a good chance at lead off next season.

Ross is going to sign
Sciambra will have a spot, if he were to leave it would be his decision because he won't be cut
Butler and Sewald may have to go jc route if they want to play, I think it's pretty much done that Devall (might be a good Delgado one year deal with opp to come back) will not be back as well. Russell Reynolds could be another interesting case, he will probably miss most of next year as well so they could take him off roster with chance to come back later or it may be in his best interest to rehab at a jc.
Hunter Newman will be given a shot in the fall as a starter as well

I suspect that either Laird or Stevenson plays CF while the other becomes a 4th outfielder and pinch runner. Laird has a real edge there right now due to his bat.
I think McMullen plays LF to help his draft status (ala Rhymes) while DeHart and Fraley compete for RF; both come in expected to be better bats than Stevenson while Fraley has very good speed and a cannon for an arm that profiles to right.
Could be a Foster/Longhi platoon at DH unless Moore ends up the DH with Longhi at first.
