We recently went over a Z charts with respects to our current roster. With that said, the draft is the next opportunity to improve our roster. As such, we're going to work to develop profiles on the likely prospects with the #6 pick.

A while back, several posters worked together in a thread about Player Fit THREAD. We came up with the following Z Chart evaluations:

quote:

Vasquez: Le Pa 3 Md Rb
Gordon: Pa ST 3 Fe Od Sc Md
Aminu: St OD % Rb Bk
Davis: St Fe % Rb ID Bk
Lopez: Md % Po Rb ID Bk Anderson: Le 3 Sc Md % Rb Rivers: Pa Fe Od
Smiht: Le Fe Md % Rb ID Bk
Roberts: Pa 3 Md

Leadership: 3
Passing: 4
Steals: 2
3P%: 3
Fearlessness: 2
Outside Defense: 4
Scoring: 2
Midrange Scoring: 6
FG%: 5
Post Offense: 1
Rebounding: 6
Interior Defense: 3
Blocks: 4

Best 5 of Vasquez/Gordon/Aminu/Anderson/Davis:
Le: 2
Pa: 2
St: 3
3: 3
Fe: 2
OD: 2
Sc: 2
Md: 3
%: 3
PO: 0
Rb: 3
ID: 1
Bk: 2

The following is the list of prospects we came up with. I think we should work from the top down. I tried to rank them somewhat intelligently (not how I would rank them, though). I think we should just skip McLemore because there's no way he's there at 6.

McLemore (unlikely, but you never know)
Porter
Oladipo
Burke
Len
Noel
Muhammad
McCollum
Bennett
Saric
Zeller
Schroeder

I personally like Schroeder

all for it.

Think it would be good to pull our consensus from the other thread and see where the holes are to match with the prospects.

We'll kick off this morning with the who seemed like everyone's favorite player 3 weeks ago:

Otto Porter

I'm seeing more of him using his left hand, so it looks more like he's uncomfortable with it than incompetent with it, which kind of gives him a boost for me. That video I watched made me worry about it.

I admittedly don't watch a ton of college basketball, so I don't know these guys' games as much as some others. Hopefully this goes well. I'm staring off by listing every skill in this post and will knock off any that we deem Porter not to possess in an above average capacity. If they are not above average in NCAA, that projects below average in the NBA, in my opinion.

Pa
3
Sc
Md
%
Rb

I took off: Interior Defense, Blocks

It will take a very strong argument for me to remove: Passing, Midrange Scoring

Does anyone know where we can find some NCAA-average percentages?

I averaged the total stats from here LINK /

FG% - 42.9%
3P% - 33.9%

They did have some advanced stats like rebound% but averaging the team rebound% isn't useful here.

Porter averaged 48% and 42.2%, respectively. I'd say that puts % and 3 squarely in his corner.

More Porter stats:

16.2 Pt/g
7.7 Rb/g
1.8 St/g

I'm thinking we could go ahead and embolden Scoring and take off Fearlessness (I just don't see it). I'm kind of torn on Outside Defense. I've read several reports questioning his lateral quickness defending the perimeter. As such, I'll probably take that off, too. He's considered a good post defender at SF, but still not a true post player, so I am sticking with no Interior D.

Rebounding is the last stat I'm kind of hung up on. He could go either way here. 7.7 per game, so I'm inclined to give it to him.

Apparently this thread is an epic failure.

Making Z charts manually is a PITA. We need a program that will calculate the non subjective ones for this to work.
