b/c it's a crapshoot
quote:

Transfers are more likely than superstardom. Average play is more common than the quarterback saving a program. Coaching changes are more common than titles. For the top of the quarterback groups things are just as tough, at times even tougher, than they are for the rest of the college football world.

Jordan Jefferson/Jarrett Lee/Chris Garrett as our only scholarship QB's at one point gives us reason to want to take the conservative approach.

Negative. The rule is: You lose a QB, you sign a QB. With Mett leaving we need B. Harris to replace him on the roster.

I think you need to sign a QB in every class and sometimes 2. It is mindblowing to me that LSU fans of all fan bases, after watching horrible QB play/recruiting for 4+ years are so short sighted as to think we don't need a QB in this class.

In 2014 at best you have Rivers - Jr, Jennings - Soph and Rettig RSFR. Now if Jennings wins the job, does Rivers leave? What about Rettig? Does he stay if he's 3rd on the Depth Chart, especially after the 2014 season. You have to keep the pipeline going.

I couldn't agree more. At any point if you think you have enough QB's and your hoping for things to work out, you shouldn't be surprised when your shown the door.

More QB's means you have options, you have healthy competition, and your able to go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win. When you start limiting the number, all those things go out the window and we all know 2nd and 3rd string QB's are only 2 to 3 plays away from being starters.

Meh...

I don't it as a positive that we don't sign a QB in this class.

it is important. you don't want to experience a big drop off which is why we signed two this past year.

i hope we get harris now that kizer is out of the picture. but if we miss on harris i dont see the need to take a qb just to take a qb.

I am definitely not in the know when it comes to recruiting, but this is the same fear I have about putting all our eggs in one basket for LF. If he decides to go elsewhere for what ever reason, we have no RB for last yr and then we would have lost out on our RB of the future that everyone was expecting and be left with some lesser quality RB's.

Concerns about banking on LF may be valid, but for different reasons than the QB position. It's a lot easier for a true freshman to come in an play RB and have an impact.

I honestly don't think they would have done that if they didn't feel very good about getting him. I'm also fairly certain they will sign more than 1 RB in this class.

We will have 2 freshman qb's and rivers next year so why do we have to take one this year? trust me it's not a necessity

What if they never develop or get better? What if one or two gets hurt? What if one transferred. The only way to even try to protect yourself from any of those three is by getting quantity.

If we don't get BH, AND no one explodes onto ou radar this fall, I wouldn't be surprised if we're holding a spot for Chris Riddle for '15. I know Cam is close with his father & they've already visited. He's also transfered south to HS in Florida.
