White House Down/Olympus Has Fallen Dilemma

What's the deal with this? Are these movies not the exact same concept coming out within a year of each other?
What would make anyone in their right mind go see WHD after OHF? Other than to see an overrated actor who covers it up by appearance and an aging comedian.

One of the scripts was probably floating around Hollywood. Some exec saw it and hired a script writer to rip it off, and then it was a race to see who could get their movie released first.
White House Down seems to be trying to market itself as a buddy action movie recently.

Richard Preston had a virus story which the studios wanted. The losing studio decided to make their own virus flick and rushed it to the screen so fast the winning studio gave up on Hot Zone.

We actually have identical movies every once in a while.
I really don't mind it at all. Gives you an opportunity to compare two different takes and if one is shitty, you could go see the other one and it would be better.
I will be seeing White House Down just to compare to Olympus which was pretty good if you can get past the c-130 getting that close to D.C. unauthorized.
