Will there ever be an era defining movement in music again?

Or are we stuck underneath a mountain of unimportant bullshite for the rest of forever?

The record companies have created and packaged enough artists for most to become disenchanted with the "next big thing." And technology has opened the door for anyone to join in the game, which might be awesome, except for now everyone has joined in and the noise makes it difficult if not impossible to find anything pertinent.

Somebody help me. What is going on here, and what if anything will change it?

The electro molly rage movement could be era defining. A shitty era for sure though.

Mumford's first album was legit. Then they got so cool that they weren't cool anymore, and their second album sucked.

Given my past musical tastes I should love bands like Mumford but I absolutely hate it. I lean more country and blues than folk though I guess.
