Looking to get into the Oil and Natural Gas Industry

I wanted to get some ideas on positions I should apply for to get into the Oil and Natural gas Industry based on my qualifications. I have no prior work experience in this industry.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Management and I recently graduated with my MBA.

I know many companies in this industry are looking to hire people from a business background and that also have a Masters.

So my question is where would a good starting point for someone with my qualifications be?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tool sales, landman, or some kind of account manager for an energy company. Working for the energy company you'll probably have to be a pee on for a while then be promoted from within. I doubt they hand over their books to someone with no experience or loyalty to the company.

Maybe as a project manager for a service company, but you'd start at the very bottom since you have no experience...landman in the field, if you can get someone to hire you with no experience. Several years ago this was easy but not now...the lease buying and drilling on new leasehold craze is drying up.

With my company, ost people start up through the technical/engineering side and gain industry knowledge that way. But it's not impossible to break through with a business degree. I know two people who I work with who have business degrees. One had already made it to a project manager role, the other is on his way. The difference between having the engineering degree and business degree is that you will have to spend time at the bottom of the totem pole as a field hand for about 4 years. It's actually good pay, it's just a schedule that I would never want.

I am in a similar position to the OP, only I've just gotten my bachelor's in Business Admin.

I have been interning with John Deere for exactly a year today in production support which has included things like coaching shop floor employees, updating metrics and certification matrixes, many other things.

Also looking to break into the oil and gas field.

Procurement

My wife is head over procurement for construction/engineering firm in Houston. They pay pretty good for people starting, but you can make pretty good money doing this. Plus you learn a lot about the industry.

She had connections to get into the field years ago, but she has a degree in micro biology...but is smart as a whip.
