The Pelicans have averaged about eight players per session for their offseason volunteer workouts at the Alario Center. Some of the players participating have included forward Al Farouq Aminu, guard Brian Roberts, forward Lance Thomas, forward Darius Miller and forward Anthony Davis.
``It has been nice, the gym has been rocking,’’ Williams said.``We’re going to see how it goes, but our guys are enjoying it for sure.’’

I'd love him back as a backup.

Dude could instantly become one of the best backup 3s in the NBA if you upgrade and use him right. He is still very young and getting used to his body. He will improve.

The Pelicans have spent the collateral to acquire and work on refining AFA's game. He has certainly progressed slowly in some aspects, but in others, he has become very astute. As he continues to mature mentally and physically, he should become more focused, which could make him an absolute menace on defense and the boards.
His super-arch jump shot, while comical at times, shows work, but not the best coaching. Keeping him in our system over the summer should allow our coaches to work closely with him refining his jump shot. He is never going to be Ray Allen, but if he could just become decent, he would be a legit starting 3 down the line.
I just think it is short-sighted to give up on a player who has shown flashes of very legit play.

Hopefully Rivers eats something and hits the weights a little.
AFA would be a primeaux' backup small forward. FWIW.
I think he looked worse than he actually was cause the team overall was lacking. Not exactly who I wanted to see trying to create a shot but that was our offense last season.

Ok bro-in-law. I'll get on the Nigerian night train, but only for one stop.

As for AFA, what type of timeline are we projecting here? I don't mind him as a bench player and giving him time to improve, but is this a one or two year investment or a five year/long term project?

The guy can absolutely contribute in a backup role right now, so I can't say he's exactly a project. What I'm saying is that in the next couple of years, he could prove himself as much more than a backup on the right roster. Unless some team gives him a dumb contract, I can't see us letting him walk away.
So, Monty told the press that guys don't want to work out for teams because it might hurt their draft stock, but the Kings and the Suns have worked out multiple prospects, and they draft before and after the Pelicans.
What do you make of that?

Hard to make sense of it. Have they already settled on Saric and made a promise? If you have, why waste your owner's money bringing people in?

The Suns are still top 5. Who have the Kings worked out that's top 5ish? Burke is the only one I've seen. As much as I like conspiracy theories I really do think we are just in an undesirable spot at 6 and if we're going to work out more "marginal" prospects then they can work around Demps' schedule. I'm guessing the only hope of working out a guy like Oladipo or Porter is if their agent feels they're in danger of falling like we see with Noel.

I'm sure the cost is both not that much and already budgeted. Demps is an information fiend. There's no way he'd pass up the chance to personally scout players he might be trading for or signing in the future.

Very good point.
