Q and A with Jake Latz

quote:

Latz said his best pitch is his fastball, which has been clocked at 92 mph. Latz is 1-0 and has a 1.66 ERA.

I never really thought of going to LSU but then they invited me down there. And then I asked Ethan about it and he was really positive about it. He really liked the campus and the people down there. I knew it was a good decision for me to go there.

I forget which one but there is a poster here that should have some info on Bradley. He has talked about him before, I think his son plays on the same team.

Alex Lange Class 5 All State in Missouri LINK
That's a pretty big deal.

Random 2014 Mock Draft
Has him going 30th overall to the Cardinals. Considering this was done the day after this years draft, I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Great comparison to Brignac. Reid may have been a step quicker and slightly more athletic but Deichman has more present day strength.. Both can really swing it.
Where are the Jordan brothers going to end up defensively?

From my nephew in IL:
"Played against Latz and Papierski. Both are good players. Won't really help out LSU until jr or senior year".
He played with Koziol, too.."Yeah Kevin should have been on this team. It's a shame but he's doin good now. He's a pro golfer now! I'm doing well! This past year I was out in AZ, now I'm in Florida for ball". (Minor league).

if that's the case, they may as well go elsewhere unless they want to walk on.

Yeah I wonder if they may have just been young when he played against them and they didn't make much of an impression. Latz appears to be highly regarded from most accounts and Papierski is a big switch hitting catcher. I don't think the staff would take program type players this early.

Exactly seeing these kids as freshman or sophs and then predicting them as non contributors until their 3rd or 4th year of college is a bit premature and ridiculous. Not knocking the guy bringing info to the board, but they come highly regarded and we don't take a lot of commitments from out of state scrubs.

That's def the case. Read the scouting report

"Latz showed low 90s FB and projects more. " (keep in mind he's LH)

Paps "showed big bat"

They would have been freshmen two years ago, so that probably explains it.

Even Bregman as a freshman in high school wasn't ready to play for a top 5 college baseball team I also trust the coaches especially on out of state commits.

Either way its always nice to hear about these players with limited info on college baseball recruiting

I read that Deichmann was recently chosen to attend the Perfect Game National Showcase, a chance for the top recruits in the country to be evaluated by MLB scouts.

With this latest development, what are his chances of actually making it to campus? Being a Nola kid does anyone have any insider info?
