Damn, I was just in Venice Marina all weekend. Came up today. Weather was horrible yesterday. Drove boat back during a storm. Wonder if it happened then. I did see a helicopter yesterday afternoon, wonder if that was the one.

Hope his family is doing ok.

Hat, he was from bayou blue but moved to mandeville. He was a year younger than me but we played soccer together since junior high. Yes his last name started with an m. He really loved to catch fish and shoot pouledeau! Every year he would travel to Arkansas to shoot greenheads and always tried to get me to go. I regret not going now. He was part of our opening day coot shoot pretty much every year. He was always the first to run out of shells and I would try and sell him some for three times the amount. He wouldn't give in until I would give him to him for free. He was a great friend and will be missed.

Sorry to hear this. Prays sent.

Do you know if they hit one of the weirs? Running that part of the river can be real bad. More so due to high water and if winds were coming out the SW.

Did he have a younger brother whose name begins with R? Still trying to figure out if its who I think it is, but it sounds like it is. A really good guy and a great fisherman.

Yes his younger brother was named after the great Chicago cub's second baseman.

I still haven't heard any details. I believe he had two guys with him from arkansas. One guy is in critical condition the other has minor injuries.

RIP Brad. I went to bed praying my assumption was wrong. He just started fishing Venice hardcore since he moved to Mandeville. Told me to go fishing with him some time over there. The song nails it... Only the good die young.

not just the weirs but at this time of the year. the river is full of log that are nearly under the surface and very hard to see... and logs on surface...

as this week in OB/GS NW FL and a local river proved... a marine environment is dangerous... people always need to be on guard.

Sorry for the loss of your friend.... I have lost several over the years in boating accidents - all of them avoidable.
