No matter who is the coach there, I would imagine they would try to retain Pekovic as much as possible.

The question was always going to be whether or not we'd overpay for Pek

I don't think it is. We've been on Kevin Love watch literally since he signed his new deal. They have to convince Love why letting Pekovic walk is a good decision and not a cheap decision. Maybe there's a S&T that will work like Lopez for Pekovic, but short of a S&T I can't see them losing him for nothing. People thought there was a good chance Indiana, Memphis, and the Clippers wouldn't overpay either but they all matched hostile offers.

The Saunders comment is the relevant part to Pekovic, Adelman returning is relevant to Chase Budinger who said a month or so ago that Adelman would play a big role in how seriously he explores free agency. Adelman returning makes it more likely Budinger resigns.

By overpay, i was basically talking about offering him a max deal. Thats what i've always thought it would take to get him. I wouldn't do it, but it would put Minny in a terrible position.

they were always going to offer Pek a contract...its just a matter of how much and if Pek signs it before testing free agency(would be retarded unless its a max)...if we want him im inclined to believe at worse we can make a phoniex style push for him and make him the offer that either he will sign with us or run up minnesotas cap tab....its a win win.

we are nola...we have to overpay to get the players we want...and to have two 20/10 front court caliber players would be ridiculous and unstoppable. securing his signature could give us the versatility we need to be able to upgrade other positions as well...EG staying healthy and being the 20 a night guy he can be would actually put us in the top 5 in the west as soon as next year. id get him or die trying...no homo.

it's a longshot for us to sign pek as a f/a. i remember someone stating that the max a courting team could offer him is around $14mil. unless minny somehow invests their $ in a stud sf & sg, they should keep pek.......... .
