I want to add one of those hide-away 5th wheel hitches to my truck (F250).

Dealer only or do other places do this?

Like one of those B&W rigs?

I think they're pretty easy to put in compared to the old days when you had to go find your own iron and weld shite to the frame.

Not sure...

I want one of those deals where, when you're not using it, the bed can be flat.

Those hide away hitches are pretty nice. We took ours to a dealer to get done, but that was several years ago. Not sure if you can do those yourself.

I worked at a truck accessory shop when I was younger and we installed them. They aren't that difficult to install with the proper tools.

I googled what Downshift posted and yeah, it looked like a project for maybe two guys that knew what they were doing.

Might be dealer bound...

I've done several. Its not hard. Just read instructions several times and make sure measurements are perfect before any drilling. I would try to get instructions and read over it before getting arse raped by a dealer or hitch place. I think herbs trailers or something like that is least expensive in BR.

Agreed.

I have a bit more money, but way less time.

I used to really enjoy stuff that, but dang, it seems like every day is busy. I need to add it so I can pull a big dump trailer from our job site.

Hardest part will probably be taking the bed off.

Shouldn't cost too much to get it put in though. Wiring up the brake box pisses me off more than anything.

Didn't have to take bed off on the ones I did.

Just got one at Kirks in Gonzales few months ago. Think it was around $600 installed. But that included a in bed 7 prong plug installed.

Didn't have to jack the bed off the frame at all?

My mom has a B&W 5th wheel hitch that you can hide away. Wasn't too expensive to put it in if I recall.

I got mine done in 08 by that place on Airline close to Pecue. It was about $550 so that sounds about right. Mine included a plug as well.

Worth every cent IMO.

The installation was less than $100 I think. Well worth it IMO

I never had to. on some model trucks it helps to loosen the bed bolts a little to make the frame cross bars easier to slide between the bed and frame. IIRC you just have to use a hole saw and cut a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 hole in the bed to get the bolts through the top of the frame rail. Once you get the hitch tightened down there are hammer in plugs to cap the holes you cut in the bed.
