It says ´The Translator´´, on the digital marquee.

I doubt that the squad will take a bus all the way to Manchester...

NBC sports soccer has reports of a Courtois swap for Diego Costa.

That would be a terrible move. Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and will be for the next 10 years. Costa is very good and a top striker but he is fairly old and we will have Lukaku back next season anyways.

Agree, this would piss me off. Our stirkeforce is lacking but don't offload a significant asset to try to fix it. You keep Courtois and Cech you're set at keeper for the next 15 years.

ETA: 15 might be an exageration, but you get my point.

cech very likely will be great for 7+ more years. i think costa is a bit overrated from his early season tear (an outlier in his career), but if Mourinho rates him highly and you can offset his fee significantly with Courtois, that's probably a good move. you've got enough present and long term value there to justify offloading Courtois (who isn't going to play for Chelsea unless Cech gets sold).

My favorite goal of all time is the Arsenal goal.

I knew it was coming but I still haven't been able to process the fact he's gone. He will always be my favorite.

I hate that injuries somewhat derailed his career the last 4-5 years but in his prime he was an absolute beast in the middle of the park. I can't tell you how many times I've watched that video of the Arsenal goal and I will never get over Ovrebo robbing him of that stunner that should have sent Barcelona packing and Chelsea back to the CL final in 09.

I hope like hell he finds a place in the regular XI at Milan and gets a chance to go and play in Brazil after the ridiculous yellow card rule kept him out of the knockout phase in 06 and injury out of South Africa.

Great humanitarian off the pitch as well.

Farewell Bison, gone but never forgotten...

I agree but at this point I'd rather sell Cech then. If Petr can give you 7 more solid years, Courtois can get you 15+ solid years.

I've always liked Essien too, but it was probably his time to go! He was such a beast a couple FIFAs ago. Between him, Lampard, and Ballack you could take shots from midfield and score with Chelsea.

Eta: I couldn't tell for sure, but did I just have an Andriy Shevchenko sighting?

Yep. In my opinion, Courtois is already better than Cech, or will be by the start of next season. Cech has definitely regressed a bit recently, though he is still a great goalkeeper as well.

I don't think it's that simple an equation. for one, courtois would have to adapt to the BPL which could take a year or two (think his predecessor at AM). two, if he gives you a leg up on Costa and he's your top striker, probably worth it. you can always buy another great keeper in five years.

I agree that he's probably more goal every other game than goal every game, but he does finish well, and since Mourinho seems pretty obsessed with winning the ball high up the field, Diego Costa would be a great striker to have. Plus, I'm sure that Mourinho can put some of his more interesting attributes to use.

Mourinho is the master, lulling top of the table City to sleep by drawing bottom West Ham at home. In the end we net 1 point and go level. Brilliant!
