Jose just said in an interview that David is much better, but not ready to play yet.

So it sounds like we won't see him tomorrow

Has there been any talk of continuing to give him time in the midfield or is Jose going to play him exclusively at CB?

The rest of page 16 should be dedicated to Chelsea hero, Roberto Di Matteo.

Bunch of slackers...

Same lineup as Sunday but with Ba in for Torres and Mata for De Bruyne. Crazy how we went from zero depth to having guys like Luiz, Essien, Torres, Bertrand not even on the bench.

I guess Jose is going to give all three strikers a chance early and look for someone to step up and take the job?

Not sure if he is working him back to match fitness or what but he was pretty much crap when he was out there.

Very lucky three points. Ivan could have easily been sent off, was probably off on his goal, Cech saved our arse twice, and we were lucky not to give away a pen in stoppage time. The second half Sunday and the entire match today were highly underwhelming and we won't get anything from the match Monday playing like this.

Everything is still far too central and we still have gotten minimal production from our strikers. Ba was awful today.

In the few times they got forward he caused all kinds of problems. Scored the only time he got a sight of goal had a great cross to the backpost that forced a beauty save from Cech made a beautiful dummy run that led to Agbonlahor missing by about a foot and won a header against two defenders that led to another point blank save from Cech on Weidmann (sp?). Basically he did everything.

Wow. Really fun game to watch but not because we played great, but it was just close and the teams were going back and forth. Villa looked really good when attacking. Lukaku looked fantastic, did everything except score a goal basically. Held up play great and drew the foul that turned into our 2nd goal. Hazard and Oscar were both great as well.

I think the ref didn't call a handball on JT because it looked like he was getting fouled/pulled down by the Villa man. Still, we were lucky to escape with all 3 points.

I know but I'm just saying when he is fit that's gonna put another guy in the stands that probably would have started a lot of games for us last year.

I think great is pretty kind to Oscar and Hazard today. Outside of that one little move that led to the goal I thought both were pretty tame. Like I said earlier everything just looks too central and crowded.

Well said, Randy, and I agree. I trust Mou's judgment but if we don't find a goal scorer we will be seeing a lot more of these finishes. Hell a Berbatov would do us wonders (mildly joking). We need a goal scorer and the whole game opens up for us.

Schurrle looked pretty good and I am not a big Schurrle fan to be honest. Hopefully he will come strong and be that great option off the bench.

We just take the 3 points quietly and go from here. Villa will be a strong team this year that no one should sleep on.

Has anyone ever considered the idea of pushing hazard to striker

Didn't we kinda try this at Juventus. That worked out horribly. Cost RDM his job.

I think the biggest problem, even moreso than a hot striker, is the lack of width. This team is crying out for a winger imo a la Robben and Duff in Jose's first tenure. Maybe Schurrle can provide that but I was hoping for a bigger signing to fill that role. I'll trust in Mou til he gives me reason not to though.
