i shot this guy with my 9mm rat shot around my pond last year cutting grass! first question is this a water moccasin? the reason im asking is i saw two more yesterday! i have a 23 month old daughter and even though she is never outside by herself she could still come across one! second question is, have any of you guys tried snake away pellets? and if so do they work?

i was fairly certain it was just wanted to hear yalls opinions! ive put mothballs out several times but the disintergrate so quick! one of the ones i saw yesterday was a lil bigger than this guy and the other was pretty small(not that it makes a difference) i usually have my 22 or pistol with me around my pond for this reason but these 2 caught me slipping!

Go find a king snake and turn him loose. Problem solved.

mothballs
I put some under my hunting shack (on the sill-beams) and the lasts snake I saw slithered right under there.
FWIW, I do not have a moth problem!

I'd make it a habit to patrol the area. Are there snake traps?

Sulphur will help keep them run off

Get a bag of Lime chalk and chalk out around your property line. The lime burns the skin of a snake and they will not cross it

I ain't believing none of that shite where my own two year old is concerned. I'd be out there with a hoe and a shotgun every day till I'd convinced myself I'd killed them all. And I'd still want a cat or a dog or both patrolling the rest of the time.

we got 2 big dogs too... thats another concern i have.... i work my lab in the pond almost everyday, i try and keep the grass short, but they get right on the edge! i dont want my new hunting buddy to get bit either! more worried bout my daughter! i walk/ride my 4wheeler around every day to scope it out everyday and i hadnt been seeing any, the one day i didnt have my gun on me they were out!
