They are more rock than country. I've been tellig everybody that will listen to give them a shot. I've been calling it folk rock.

The show they put on at hangout was rockin. And love that girls voice. I would frick any girl that could sing like that.

I agree that they're not really "country" so to speak. More like folk or Americana. I have no problem with the country label though.

They're one of my favorite bands right now and are absolutely phenomenal live.

Haven't heard a song by them I don't like and that's their true strength. They are amazing writers.

I jerked it to a video of her singing after hangout.

Needless to say I am a fan of their work. I will be seeing them again Tuesday.

they are the bare bones pure version of "country" music

what country was intended to be.

not this bastardized shania twain pop bullshite that exudes out the mainstream nashville pop stations

shovels and rope are incredible

yeah, but I don't think either one of those quite describe them accurately enough

alt-country/roots folk?

I've heard Dawes is good, but have never seen them myself. I know they collaborated with Jackson Browne for part of one of their albums.

I be at tips as well. Been looking forward to this for a while.

i don't think they're bad....just kind of bore me....on a side note the lead singer looks like bobcat goldthwait and ryan adams had a love child.

calm down guy. They have some elements of country, but they are not "country" in the sense of how the word is used in 2013.

They're country like AA is country. They're close enough to the genre but it doesn't exactly fit.

I hate over defining bands so I generally just call them country anyway
