Lord this was a terrible movie.

I made the mistake of not watching the trailer and just looking at the cast (Eisenberg, Fisher, Harrelson, Common, Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Ellis Boyd 'Red' Redding) and synopsis. Could not believe how many people were in the theatre to see this on a 10:35 Sunday night showing. It was almost packed out.

The magic tricks were so terrible it's not even funny. But I laughed, at how terrible they were.

I'll give it to em, the ending surprised me. But then they start explaining why they ended it that way, me and my buddy just started laughing. Everybody else seemed to be into it though.

How it has a 7.1 imdb score blows my mind.

I want to do spoiler comments, mainly to make fun of them, but I'll hold off.

I didn't think it was terrible. It wasn't anything special though.

The twist at the end was well done.

I thought the love story they forced in there was hokey as all freaking hell and had no place in the story.

I'd give it a 6/10. Alright, but not something I'd watch twice.

this was my review of it from another thread:

quote:

Went to this last night, I was pretty excited going into it as it seemed like an original idea with a cool premise and it was... kinda.

The intro starts where we get to see each of the 4 horsemen individually working their magic. Props to Woddy, his character is funny in that classic Harrelson way.

without divulging too much of the story, ill say that it has kind of an Oceans 11 feel to it with a twist. Instead of not finding out the solution until the very end like in O11/12/13, Now You See Me does a give-a-little get-a-little in a way that keeps you guessing, but lets you know what is happening at the same time.

The ending is a little predictable but not so much thrown in your face. They keep you guessing as to the who, but the why i pretty obvious. The end also seems kinda strange. The whole movie is based around "nothing is really magic" but the end makes it seem like magic is real. it just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the story.

it also seemed like they tried to film it in 3d but decided not to at the last moment. the "magic" graphics would have been pretty cool in 3d (and i hate 3d).

I wish they would have focused more on the 4 horsemen team. their part seems pretty secondary as far as screentime goes. most of the movie focuses on mark ruffalo and Shoshanna, and the romance they create between them confused me. it really wasnt necessary and i wish they hadn't done it.

Jesse Eisenburg comes off as a douche (as always) and they try and throw in a love twist with Isla Fisher that seems out of place as they only mention it a couple times, but nothing really pans out from it.

Woody is funny. His mentalist power parts are great. all i can say on him.

Franco... is just so Franco (seinfeld anyone)

All-in-all, im glad i went to see it. It was good, not great, but a good waste of time. if you don't have any problem spending money to see movies in theatres, i recommend it for a rainy day.

7/10

It didn't look like something worth acquiring a baby sitter for.

With the ratings, a lot of people had to.

But they go with the "magic is real" theme, then Red exposes the way they do them. But then they start doing stuff so ridiculous they skip out on showing how they are done expecting the audience not to think about it.

In the first bank heist Isla Fisher throws a sheet over the machine but it does some like wizardly spin and ghost like way to get over the machine. Then later they have her float inside a bubble to the second story. Yea, don't worry about explaining that one, the most ridiculous trick in the whole movie. Then the bank account trick. They tried to explain half of them then hope you forget about the rest of the tricks.

It isn't, but it isn't a complete turd.

I didn't have to pay for the ticket since I'm visiting the parents and they wanted to go.

Searched but didn't see a thread, sorry. Good review though.

It's like they told Eisenberg, "hey, play the Facebook guy."

Just a very average movie. The twist may have been pretty good, but the rest wasn't. The dialogue and character interactions made me laugh out loud when they were trying to be serious.

Eisenberg does play exactly like he did in the social network. Franco is so-so.I was very disappointed in Ruffalo and Laurent. For some reason it felt like Morgan Freeman just didn't fit in the movie.

Harrelson was good though IMO.

From the first trailer I saw I've had literally no interest in seeing this movie. And that's even with Isla Fisher being fap worthy.

it wasnt that bad. definitely not deserving all the hate it is getting on here. if you are that against seeing it in theaters, fine, but it was definitely worth a rent from redbox.

The fact that Isla Fisher was in it was one of the main reasons we went to see it actually

Probably the worst I've seen her look. They did her up too much and made her look older than she really is.

Saw this last night and was pretty excited going in. I was very disappointed. It just fell flat. Very disjointed and had an awful flow. No character chemistry and I didn't care about a single one of them. One of the cardinal rules of screenwriting...make your main character likeable. I'm not even sure who the main was supposed to be. I didn't like any of them anyway. Sorry for the hate for those that liked it.

I told y'all.

My dad went to go see it because a bunch of people at the firm were raving about it. He came back saying he'd never trust them again. He went in blind and paid the price. He was like "you could drive a semi through the plot holes"

I just watched it and liked it. I hadn't seen any trailers and had no idea what it was about. All I knew was that Mark Ruffalo was in it, which didn't really influence me too much one way or the other.
