Im new to the area and for the past couple of weeks Ive been hearing a loud explosion type noise like every 2 minutes or so 24/7.Just wondering if anyone knew what it was. I live about a mile from some large grain bins so my guess is some type of intermediate butane type cannon "noise maker" to scare away birds but that's just my guess

You nailed it.. Either that or LSUBalls has some crazy Columbian lady he picked up on the side of the road, taking pop shots at him. Oh and check out their world class Sonic Drive Thru. Place is famous.

Close to an airport maybe?

Didn't know grain elevators used cannons.

Pretty big area lol. More than a few posters from this area.

I think you've probably got your answer, either deer off of new beans, ducks off of water seeded rice. I'm gonna say you are north of 80?

yea that's where its sound like its coming from. Its loud as hell and damn near shakes my house. funny thing is that I've gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me I was just curious where it was coming from. This is my first time living out in the country so I'm used to hearing sirens and traffic not freaking cannons

They own a bunch of land there around and over the overpass past Elton's grain bins. Probably got the cannons keeping deer out their beans...

Does anyone else call this noise making device a "punt gun", or is that something that the crew I hunt with/hang out with made up?

I think a real punt gun was a big arse shotgun type device they would mount on a boat for the destruction of Canvasbacks and other waterfowl that rested on large open bodies of water.
