Almost two weeks after its upfront presentation, NBC has decided the fate of its last remaining bubble series, giving drama Hannibal a 13-episode second-season renewal for a return next midseason or later. The series, based on the characters from the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, was developed for television by Bryan Fuller, who executive produces. “We’re so proud of Bryan’s vision for a show that is richly textured, psychologically complex, and very compelling,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said. “There are many great stories still to be told.”

Glad that we're getting a definite season 2, sad that AMC isn't going to be able to take advantage of another NBC blunder and get a crack at this.

Awesome news.

A 13 episode order isn't a huge vote of confidence, but it's something. Hopefully it builds an audience on hiatus.

each of the 5 seasons that fuller has mapped out is only 13 episodes, so it's better than it sounds.

I actually prefer a 10-13 episode season. Really reduces the filler

Why is that good news? Seems like it would be better off in anyone's hands, but NBC's.

I wasn't too worried since that report came out that another cable network and Amazon were both interested in picking it up if NBC canceled it, but this is still good news. Maybe it'll find an audience next season that will keep it around for a while.

He said he's glad we are getting a season two, but wishes it was with AMC...

Anyway, NBC did a good job with season 1, why wouldn't they do a good job next season?

My thoughts. Unless it was getting picked up by like hbo I don't really see anyone else doing it better.

something is wrong with us when we celebrate an ongoing show that focuses on people being killed in the most macabre and depraved ways on a weekly basis.
