I am asking because I have a friend whose son seems to be a pretty good baseball player at a very small school in South Arkansas. (inbefore sure he's the next Dimaggio) They are starting to look around. I told him if he is good he will be found. My question is:How does a good kid at a small school get attention?

there coaches make calls. send in tape to coaches. call the coaches yourself. go to camps.

Play in summer tournaments

Go to camps at schools during the summer. Coaches talk..and even if they don't think you're good enough, they will talk to a JUCO coach

Get your HS coach to send in tape/stats

If he's in highschool, and has film of him playing, fill out recruiting questionnaires on a schools baseball website, and attach the film. It sends it to the coaches and if they are interested they will get back to him.

All travel ball isn't created equal. Still needs to camp.

As much as I hate the rise of travel ball, that's a good way to be seen by college recruiters. It's easy pickings for scouts if you are on a select team with several college/draft prospects and you are playing against other other teams with similarly stacked rosters.

Even if college coaches aren't allowed in the park (not sure what baseball recruiting rules are) pro scouts and college coaches talk alot and pro guys will always be at good events. You'll be surprised how much pro and college guys interact. A lot of kids end up at particular schools because a pro scout who is intrigued, but not ready to draft will make some calls to some college coaching buddies.

Get someone that knows what they're doing to create a video of some of his top plays in games.

Profile: Age/Weight/Measurements

And submit these to schools of interest. If you get a reputable person to do this, it will be of benefit (assuming he's good enough).

Good Luck!
