Yankee buddy of mine here at the office busted out with Scotch eggs for a breakfast meeting. Never knew such a thing existed. His were the hard boiled egg wrapped in loose maple breakfast sausage, dredged, then battered in seasoned panko bread crumbs and deep fried. They were good and at least to me different but of course the coonass in me wanted more seasoning/flavor but he was smart enough to bring a bottle of Sriracha with him. Any of you folks know of better recipes or think of a nice twist? 'Cause I'm going to do these ....JUST BETTER!

Instead of deep frying them, I smoke them on my BGE. Slice thin and serve on home grown tomato sandwiches!

I'm liking the smoke route but how do you get the "batter" to crisp up? Also is what I listed above all you put in it? No other seasonings?

I don't think he puts batter on it. Then again, some people put peanut butter in Gumbo.

I had some of these delicious things in Fredericksburg, TX. They had a Dijon Mustard sauce to go with them. Absolutely delicious.

On my Brinkman. I love them. I have not made any in a while. YOu can use whatever ground sausage you like. I use ground deer with a slightly sweet/slightly hot blend my processor makes.

Had them in Scotland as a kid. They would sell them as fast food in the gas station.

Is there a way to just do it in the oven? I have a bad feeling about deep frying an egg.
