Foster is hitting over .380...it's time to keep him in the lineup.

I'm not sure why this dude is always in PM's doghouse but he needs to start. His arm is too good to do what we saw at home plate yesterday, he's athletic and a great extra bat in the lineup. I might hurt someone if he isn't starting the regional. I think he deserves a spot after how he played in the tournament. If Laird comes back, move him to CF.

McMullen
Foster
Bregman
Katz
Ibarra
Rhymes
Jones
Ross
Laird

Thoughts on that lineup? I think our defense is good enough in the outfield. It would certainly bring a ton more offense to our lineup. Would defense really matter? It's not like Foster/Laird suck in the outfield. It's just not worth a dead bat in Stevenson.

Has anyone on this board thought about playing Foster more?

He made a great play. He also misread a ball and made a bad play. He's fast.. He's not much better than Laird.

Laird is no slouch at CF either and he's a decent bat. Is it worth sacrificing offensive potential for a good glove? I say no. How many more runs would we have yesterday if Foster was in the 2 hole and Jones/Laird were in the lineup? Even if that ball went past Laird in CF(in place of Stevenson).

Stevenson played his best game of the season yesterday. His catch of the long fly ball was a game saver, and he was pretty clutch at the plate as well.

Does no one remember Laird in center early in the year?

Until we hear further word today on Laird's medical, safe to assume he's out for now.

IMO, Laird is just as good if not better than Stevenson in CF. They've both had some misreads though.

Yea, I'm assuming Laird can come back this weekend(if at all possible).

But how could you say that for sure if Foster was higher in the lineup with Laird playing over Stevenson? We could've ended up with a lot more runs yesterday where that hit wouldn't really have a major impact on the game. But yea, he played good. I just don't see a reason to start a guy who is barely better than your other outfielder with a completely dead bat. He doesn't have Laird's capability of bunting either.

And I don't know what PM was thinking putting Yocom in 2 hole over Foster the day before was blasting shite in that 2 hole. Hopefully just experimenting.

It's not like Foster sucks in the outfield either and has a cannon for an arm. He did make a very nice athletic catch yesterday too that was important like the Stevenson catch.

Agreed with everything except this.

Stevenson bunts way better than Laird.

Foster is our best option at RF because of his arm and he is one of our hottest bats right now. It should be Laird v Stevenson for CF.

I would say it worked out fine....Foster drove in runs where he was in the lineup yesterday. Do you think Yocom would have driven in those runs if he and Foster were reversed in the order?

Agreed. Not to mention, outside of Laird/Stevenson, Foster is one of the fastest guys on the team.

Laird is just as good plus hits .100 points better.

Stevenson also has base running issues that need to be corrected. He should have been doubled off on a fly ball to right. Thankfully the first baseman wasn't there. Major blunder by Stevenson.
