Just got back and it's as good as I remembered it to be. So glad to have an authentic Greek restaurant back in town and just not these bullshite pseudo-Greek places (I'm looking at you Albasha and Arzi's)!
Started with saganaki (fire cheese as one of my younger brothers used to call it), avgolemono soup and salad made a little large so that my wife and I could share it.
Wife had seafood psaropita covered in an avgolemono sauce and I had the rack of lamb with grilled potatoes and green beans. Both were excellent in my opinion. Couple of items on the menu I might have been interested in getting were not available yet like pastichio, moussaka (think they sold out of this tonight) and galaktoboureko, but otherwise a good menu.
I've known Dino and Vasilios (or at least been eating there) since they were where Nino's is. My dad is of Greek descent so when we'd go there he was always speaking with them in Greek and they've always been very hospitable and generous to me when I've brought dates there even after my dad moved away. The generosity continued tonight with my wife tonight. We weren't going to get desert, but they insisted on giving us a couple of pieces of baklava and a couple of specialty drinks on the house.
Hope they can stay for the long haul this time around cause I'm tired of trying to get my Greek food fix in Metairie or when I go to Chicago to see my dad.

Just so you know, Al Basha and Arzi's are not Greek restaurants, they're Lebanese. At least they were BITD. Really good food as I recall. Couldn't be beat and really wish they were up here!
I lived in BR when Zorba's opened until it closed on Perkins. It was a treat. I loved the seafood stuffed eggplant dish; the Pirogue right?

Zorbas is great, but it simply won't be like it was during its heyday IMO. Still good to have back in BR.

That's too bad. Greek food isn't that difficult with the right raw materials.

Chill Heracles, I was simply trying to edumacate the masses. Like you said, people don't always know.

Put the drink down. You've had too many.

No need to knock those places. They're just more Lebanese. They still have great food.

You two half Greeks should get together and copulate...just an idea.

I'm sure MrsBears wouldn't appreciate that, but I'm always in the doghouse so you never know.

Not knocking them so much as am the people who think they're eating authentic Greek food.

Meh, I wouldn't go that far. It's decent/good, not great.
