Runner on 2nd, 2 outs. Batter hits ball into gap. Runner from 2nd misses third base as he's heading home to score, meanwhile batter is thrown out at 3rd trying to stretch it to a triple.

Question is, can a team appeal the run scoring after the third out is recorded?

If you don't touch third you don't score I think.

Usually you have to wait til the next batter, toe the rubber, then step off to appeal.

Good question. Not touching third is not something that the ump will call unless its appealed before the next pitch is thrown. Not sure.

Not really true if other team doesn't appeal.

I thought the OP said the appeal was gonna happen... My bad... Yes you would have to appeal for the run not to count no matter how many outs.

But how do you appeal when there's 3 outs?

Pitcher goes to the rubber steps off & throws the ball to 3rd base and the 3rd baseman steps on the bag.

Doesn't matter...toe the rubber, throw to third, runner is out. What happens with batter doesn't matter, cause inning is over. No run scored.

Have team stay on field, official appeal, runner out.
