Wrong. I wanted Lerner to testify.

Not deep down inside you didnt... Just say it!

Even if her actually testifying would bruise the unending love and trust you have in our dear leader??

Only because you are hoping she will exonerate your Dear Leader. If she did testify and provided evidence of WH involvement you would be here in 10 seconds with talking points as to how and why she lied to save her skin.

Deep down? You're a psychiatrist?

I wanted her to testify because I believe it would have helped to end the notion that the Obama Administration directed her to discriminate against conservative groups.

Of course. Why wouldn't I?

But what if it didn't? You would be here before the end of her testimony claiming she lied.

If that would have been the result, why didn't she testify?

Are you implying that she may be the responsible party?

But what if it didn't?

If Obama instructed anybody at the IRS to discriminate on the basis of political philosophy then he should be impeached. How many times do I have to say it?

I wish the White House and IRS would release all their email correspondences with one another to Congress. Clear the White House on this matter so we can move into cleaning up the IRS. The White House should appoint Special Counsel to investigate this debacle also.

Horse shite. You couldn't possibly have done as much research as you claim in the time between the woman making her statement and then invoking the 5th Amendment and the time you were asserting a legal conclusion. You were simply regurgitating what you read elsewhere.

Mr. Levin's letter is not germane to the question of whether or not Ms. Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights.
She cited and characterized those transgressions in her testimony under oath yesterday. Then she refused cross-examination about the citing.

Lerner (who has just been placed on administrative leave, by the way) is the head of the Tax Exempt division. The buck stops with her.

In the meantime, the Wall Street Journal says emails suggest the IRS targeting scheme was cooked up by lower-level employees...
quote:

They provide no evidence the process was directed by higher-ups or influenced by outsiders, nor do they rule out those possibilities.

All she did was confirm that those had been her remarks. She didn't testify.

Just more silliness on your part. At least you're backing off the absurd position that I needed to read hours of court cases in order to reach a considered opinion.

In fact that was testimony, as was her statement regarding previous testimony:
"members of this committee have accused me of providing false information when I responded to questions about the IRS processing of applications for tax exemption.

I have not done anything wrong. I have not broken any laws, I have not violated any IRS rules or regulations, and I have not provided false information to this or any other congressional committee."

I love that any of you think you (or the slapdicks you link to) are so right and Dershowitz is so wrong. Very little in the law is "black and white" and where it's grey, you are better served looking to people that know what the frick they are talking about. AD is one of those people.

Im not going to keep arguing but I think there is zero downside by throwing her in front of a DC District Court. She doesn't have any redeemable qualities to become a victim in this case. I believe she would be held in contempt by a court but that's my take.

And so is Mr. Duane, whose credentials are equally impressive.

Concerning Dershowitz, did you say the same about his book condemning the Supreme Court justices for their Bush v. Gore ruling?

I think the downside is to Issa. If Lerner is exonerated on any matter by a Federal Court he will be dealt a blow.
