Well, they were broken numerous times by a fast PG blowing by him, so I'm not surprised.

Did the article describe the surgery or injury in any detail?

It says (I am translating) "to remove loos particles"

By the way I still like Vasquez a lot, I just want the team to have all the cards available during the off season that is all

Beat me to it

I think players sometimes rush into surgeries when they should just take 3 months off first and see how it feels. Docs want to make money, they get 1000x more cash for surgery than advising someone to rest.

I'm praying it's like a Tommy John surgery and he'll start running faster afterwards

Per El Universal, a Venezuelan paper based out of Caracas, Greivis Vasquez is scheduled for minor surgery on both his ankles tomorrow.

According to the report, Vasquez experienced some discomfort during the tail end of the season, and the procedure will remove loose particles from his ankles. The surgery will take place in Los Angeles, and the paper also reports that there's a 12-16 week recovery period on the table, putting Vasquez's participation in the FIBA Americas Championship in August in question.

Quoth Vasquez: "I played with pain during the final weeks of the regular season. I understand that this is the right decision. [I] need to focus on my rehabilitation and return healthy. Hopefully be able to play in the FIBA Americas Championship FIBA although I know that will be determined by how [developed] my recovery."

2013-2014 is the last remaining year on Vasquez's current deal; he's slated to earn a tad over $2M.

Looking back this makes a lot of sense. He did seem to be less himself at the end, even though haters gone hate.

Oh and frick him playing in FIBA. rest mon rest

I wasn't concerned until I saw this. I think the more common cleaning out procedures have a shorter recovery time. Maybe it's because he did both ankles at once and he refuses to use a wheel chair and let them heal up?
